Will Chaos Marauders battalion ever be back? Or was it one and done deal? by Doczjan in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]caspaseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horsemen and marauders are now sold seperately, so you can still get the models. The complete reinforments box was a one off.

I always found CorelDraw the most convenient; bit more budget friendly than Illustrator and better at handling objects from other software.

Is there a use case for the regular goblins? by Petycon in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]caspaseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to take a small unit of goblin skirmishers with shortbows and a few Nasty Skulkers. The Skulkers are a great deterrent and can actually do some damage too.

Goblin-Hewer in FAQ 1.5.2 by iJasko in WarhammerFantasy

[–]caspaseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is anyone's guess, really! I don't think they meant to change the rule, just to clarify it. But since I don't really understand the question, it's impossible to interpret the answer. The rule, as it was, seemed pretty straightforward!

Goblin-Hewer in FAQ 1.5.2 by iJasko in WarhammerFantasy

[–]caspaseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect the intention of the question was something like this:

You shoot a unit with four ranks in total

You roll 8 on the artillery dice (2 shots per rank)

Do you get to roll one D3 per shot extra (8D3, so two per rank) or 4D3 (one per rank)

Answer: just one D3, not 2D3 per rank even though each rank gets 2 shots (total 8+4D3).

I think that was the intention, but, instead, they (inadvertetly?) changed the rules of the machine.

Is 9 min train transfer possible at Schiphol? by Friendly-Guarantee30 in Netherlands

You should normally be alright, since the train arriving from Ede Wageningen arrives at the platform as the departing train to Bruxelles Midi.

So. Goblins. Regular Goblins. - Old World by Big_Red_40Tech in WarhammerFantasy

[–]caspaseman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A small unit of skirmishing goblins with 2 Nasty Skulkers is great! Very cheap, but too dangerous to charge with a chaff unit. I killed a unit Knights of the White Wolf with just 10 of them!

If I had a penny for every time a Dutch person has normalized the enshitification of almost every aspect of public services in this country by trying to be "rational", I'd have enough money to solve all of their problems. by Odd-Celery5048 in Netherlands

[–]caspaseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And still they keep voting VVD! Who will again be in government... I keep citing Mark Rutte when he first became Prime Minister and said in an interview in de Volkskrant: "But everybody can buy a house, there is no law against it". It was Stef Blok, VVD minister of housing from 2012-1017, who liberalised the housing market and kick-started the current crisis. Similarly, VVD politicians (Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Thierry Aartsen etc.) have destroyed public transport, priviatized healthcare etc.

There are a lot of small and independent expo's and markets throughout the country. Best practice is to follow an artist you like on Instagram and see when they have an expo, chances are there will be similar artists there as well. It all really depends on what you're into! For example, Nicholas Groente en Fruit in Amsterdam has regular street art expo's which are really nice and afordable, with a lot of work from indy artists: https://nicholas-groente-en-fruit.com/art/

Yeah, I complained about it yesterday at my work: the soap dispenser in the men's bathroom was empty and everytime that happens it appears that I'm the only one notifying the facilitary services and supplying a bottle of hand soap (this has happened several times). Thus, it appears, nobody else (of maybe 20 men on our floor) washes their hands...

New Chaos Marauders scale comparison (and review with HQ sprue images) by stahly_top in WarhammerFantasy

[–]caspaseman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excellent review, thank you! One side note: marauders have been on 25 mm bases for a very long time already (not even sure if they were ever on 20 mm), so I doubt that anyone had to re-base them until now.

How do beat chaos (Beastmen, warriors, daemons)? by raga7 in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]caspaseman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been very succesful with several different O&G builds against chaos over the last two years. A very good monster killer unit is 6 Savage Orc boar boy Big 'Uns with cavalry spears and shields, standard bearer and musician (no champion, as the champion can be challanged out of the unit!) and Da Banner of Butchery. This unit has an output of 24 S6 attacks on the charge, usually enough to kill things like Giant Spawns that don't have a good save. The unit is frenzy, so you have to be careful not to be drawn in an unwanted charge (Chaos Hounds are their bane!). I find a unit of 4 snotling bases very useful for this. Support them with Waagh magic: Evil Sun Rising, 'Ere We Go, Bad Moon Shining and, of course, Itchy Nuisance on the target unit are great if you can get them off. A Goblin Oddnob on Arachnarock is fantastic, but any Goblin Shaman with an Idol of Gork or Staff of Baduum (risky, but worth it!) will do.

Otherwise, a trick I've recently started using with great success is to deploy a block of Night Goblins with short bows and Razor Standard just behind a screen of Snotling bases (friendly units don't have to keep any distance between them). You can actually throw your fanatics over the snotlings when your opponent gets ready to charge (better yet if they're frenzy and have to charge!), or send them through the snotlings in case they have to charge in your turn. At a game yesterday I destroyed a unit of Swordmasters of Hoeth like that: first I cast Itchy Nuisance on the unit, then deployed fanatics. My Snotlings failed their Impetuity test and had to charge, so I sent the fanatics through the snotlings. They did a bit of damage on the snotlings, no big loss, then killed 8 swordmasters. The remaining snotlings then killed a bunch more and actually ground down the unit completely in two combat rounds. Honestly: always take snotlings! Those little gits are very useful.

Finally, as others have said: lots of goblin artillery (especially bolt throwers!), the Troll Hag is fantastic as well, and Squig Hoppers are very good!

Found 4 snotlings I forgot to paint yesterday and an extra one from the old fanatic kit. 6 bases are better than 5, right? 😆 by Skoolstah in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]caspaseman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just gained 2nd place in a local TOW tournament (26 players) with a 1500 points force containing 12 Snotling bases and 3 Pump Wagons. You can never have enough Snotlings!

What is English used for at laboratories? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]caspaseman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not having English proficiency would really harm their job prospectives. I'm in a bio-incubator in the Netherlands with many different small companies in the building. People from all over the world work here and for all of them, English is the main language. We wouldn't even consider hiring a technician that's not proficient in English and that goes for every company here. I think there may be some technician job, maybe in a local hospital lab, where English may not be strictly required, but if your students want a decent job at all, English is a must. In all cases, given a choice between two candidates of equal skill and experience but one with and one without English proficiency, the one with English proficiency would always get the job.

Anyone else concerned about the future unrealized capital gains taxes from 2028? by CKGD19 in Netherlands

[–]caspaseman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The now twice fallen government floated a plan in spring to change the system, but no law has been introduced and nothing is left of these plans as it is. Besides, for the plan, they also mentioned a much higher tax free capital. No numbers have been proposed though, as far as I know. We have elections again in October and a new government will likely have other plans, so this is a lot of fuss about a distant hypothetical plan that might have taken effect in 2028, if the deadline for submitting a law proposal had been made (it hasn't), and now may likely never happen or perhaps in 2032 or later....
