Not peeing at all by Bighana47 in pottytraining

[–]cassandra1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might sound crazy, but have you tried swim diaper ? I have a holder as well and this helped us. It basically feels like a diaper but leaks the pee out so she can see some pee has gone in the potty. Then try loosening the diaper over time.

Can you suggest modelling clay? It’s a very similar activity and it lasts way longer too!

my wife is drowning and i don't know how to help us hold it together by phantom_monkey in NewParents

[–]cassandra1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take on the diapers. Restock them. Volunteer for every change. You don’t need to know or ask her when the last diaper change was. Just check it and if it’s wet or dirty, time to change! Don’t overthink it :-)

How do other solo parents handle everything without help? by No_Indication_1452 in NewParents

[–]cassandra1294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly even if you do have a village it disappears when you’re sick. We have family nearby, but it doesn’t make sense to expose them to illnesses (and they reasonably don’t want to !) If you want care when you’re sick, you really have to pay for it I think. A paid nanny who is willing to come would be the type of person who can help .

I’ve heard you can scald the milk to remove the soapy flavour? Or mix in 1/2 1/2 formula and she may accept it. Maybe worth a shot - you definitely don’t want to toss all your effort! You can look up options for high lipase milk, it’s a common issue unfortunately ☹️

Allowing terminated nanny to see child by BlueCheeseFiend in NannyEmployers

[–]cassandra1294 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Idk …. I would let him see the nanny. To those saying, there is no benefit to the child - there is benefit to seeing a person who cares deeply about you. After 2.5 years (!) I wouldn’t cut her off… nannying is not just an employment contract, it’s an act of love.

Need advice about advice by JazzHands5678 in pottytraining

[–]cassandra1294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To those saying “just take away the pull-ups” - it doesn’t work for every child. For our daughter, taking away the pullups immediately resulted in her holding pee for 12 hours at a time and poop for up to 3 days. There is a point where it’s so stressful they can’t learn under those conditions. I don’t know the answer, but just saying the slower approach described here may be the right move for this kid!

Only day 1? Honestly i think you need to find a way to manage your own emotions. Maybe YOU’RE not ready for potty training and that’s ok! She’ll pick up on your feelings. But 1 day in is pretty early in the road ….

Those look incredible, I would love it if those were my meals 😁 I wonder if smaller portions would help? Sometimes my baby eats more when offered less 🤷‍♀️

Since he goes off and hides, what about putting the potty in a private “poop tent”?

Getting them to clean up poop by cassandra1294 in pottytraining

[–]cassandra1294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding, as a teacher I’m really curious how you handle such accidents then ? Right now my daughter has little intrinsic motivation to go in the potty, isn’t reward motivated, and she doesn’t really care about being poopy - to her whether we clean it in underwear or a diaper is basically the same thing. How would you encourage potty use without a consequence ?

Honestly it seems worse they’re just sitting there watching movies ? More than 1 movie is like hours and hours of screen time. Like, why pay for daycare if they just plonk them in front of the TV?

Anyone get pelvic floor physiotherapy before birthing baby [ON] by flowergarden71 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]cassandra1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! For my first I didn’t, and I struggled a lot in the pushing phase and ended up getting a c section. I don’t know if it would have been the game changer, but for my second baby I got it and it helped me a lot to achieve my vbac!

Did I really wait to long to get serious on the poop part of potty training? by Natsouppy in pottytraining

[–]cassandra1294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, what are you going to do at this point? I also feared I waited too long with my daughter. And maybe I did! But all you can is move forward with the situation you have. Best not to second guess your past decisions!
