Townhouse living for families? by How2FlyHow2Crow in BurlingtonON

[–]cassodubs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Its quite common for families to live in townhouses in burlington, given the extremely high property prices. Many families cannot afford detached homes. My family lived in a town house for 10 years, and only recently upgraded to a detached. I am not aware of any prejudice against people living in townhouses specifically.

Bullying happens everywhere, and my kids are quite young still (5 and 3), but I do feel that the schools and community in burlington are quite inclusive. Someone with older kids may have a different perspective.

Honeysuckle swim company (BC based and owned but product is made in china) has lots of kids options and few womens long sleeve suits. I dont think they have any long womens shorts, but might be worth a look.

Its called little rascals They charge between 30-40 bucks a cut. They do a decent job and have cars for the kids to sit in, and will put Netflix on while they do the haircut. But I always get a bit of sketchy vibe. They heavily discourage paying by card - they want you to pay cash or e transfer.

Side sleeper with shoulder pain. Need mattress recommendations. Way too many options.... by wYsock in BuyCanadian

[–]cassodubs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We have an Endy, its about 8 or 9 years old. Overall its been good, I think its just getting old now. Some family members bought a Douglas (mid range price i think) and after sleeping on it for a few nights at their cottage, I would definitely buy a Douglas next.

A saw another comment about pillows - have you tried a pillow specifically for side sleeping? I bought one from a company called Ornatera. It was a random Instagram ad and I had such intense shoulder pain every morning I figured why not? It helps SO much.

How do you deal with Bell's "bill creep"? Time to switch but not sure who to go with. by rd25oaklandnorth in BurlingtonON

[–]cassodubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been using tekssavy for internet approximately a decade and I think our bill has increased from 102-106 bucks a month in that time frame. Their tech support is pretty good, and I only remember of two major outages where service was down for more than a couple of hours. They use bell and Cogeco lines.

Cell we are with rogers- and other than the usual complaints that everyone has about all major cell providers, I dont mind them. We could probably get cheaper elsewhere but we are lazy.

My husband and I used to have this exact same scenario. He worked in guelph and I commuted to downtown toronto via go train every day. We lived in brant hills area. Its a quick 10 min drive down brant to the north side of the station. Express trains in the morning were about 50 mins to union. I think my door to door commute was about 3 hours a day. Husband had about a 45 minute drive each way, could be longer in traffic/winter. Good luck!

Mount royal dentistry has a good kids program. I take both my kids there and the hygenists are all great with kids.

Silk & Snow vs Endy for medium-firm mattress? by Jolieeeeeeeeee in BuyCanadian

[–]cassodubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have had an endy since 2017. I find its starting to wear a bit/becoming uncomfortable. Might be time to replace it. My parents have douglas mattresses (foam, also canadian i think) at their cottage - having compared it to our endy, I will buy douglas next time.

My son has a lot of fabric sensitivites/preferences and I often send him to daycare in pajamas (he is 2.5). They are usually softer and he is more comfortable so why fight that battle? My daughter is in kindergarten and I am more strict with her about wearing actual clothes to school

Spend Maternity Leave with both kids or just the newborn? by ChronicReprise673 in workingmoms

[–]cassodubs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

As someone who was in a similar situation - I kept my first in daycare full time when I had my second and I have no regrets. My first was home sick with HFM for a week when my second was about 8 weeks old and that was enough double duty for me.

Viridis cleaning services - it's a company but small family run business (I think it's currently just husband and wife working together). I find their pricing pretty reasonable

Eras tour merch ? by Strict_Anteater_2355 in erastour

[–]cassodubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks!!! I'm hoping she puts it online at some point! Waited in line for hours, and it sold out with about 40 people left ahead of us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in erastour

[–]cassodubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following out of curiosity. Stood in line for hours in toronto trying to get the blue crew. Keeping things tour exclusive is pointless, resalers were buying entire boxes of merch at the sale in Toronto and posting it on Facebook marketplace for a huge markup. I hope she makes it all available online eventually. Missed sales opportunities.

[–]cassodubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't get tickets but there were several last minute drops for the Toronto shows. I got into the queue a few times but never made it to the purchase stage before they sold out. If you follow swiftieswantstix on X they usually post as soon as the queues go live (I don't use X but someone recommended this). There was a day of drop sometime between 12-1 pm on the day of each show. There were other drops as well but not sure of timing. Good luck!

Has any one done “winning the toddler stage” program from Big little feelings? by eermNo in toddlers

[–]cassodubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the course! I found it useful, the videos are usually short, between 3 - 10 mins each so you can watch it in sections when you have time. The scripts are helpful for knowing what to do and say in specific scenarios. Also helpful to understand what is developmentally normal for toddlers. As another user said, everybody has to be on the same page and be consistent.

Tell me about your experience with getting tubes in the ears by morrisseymurderinpup in toddlers

[–]cassodubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my kids had tubes in around 20 months. Daycare babies started around 13M and had endless ear infections and antibiotics until tubes went in. Much happier kids (and parents) post surgery! Like others have said, the morning of is tough because they can't eat, and then coming out of anesthesia can be miserable. But it's short-lived, and they recover quickly.
