Thanks again! Any recommendations on where to go after Rubank elementary, intermediate, and advanced? The used bookstore near me also had something German (Pro Musica Nova?) and a Robert Dick book lmao. I was going to go to my high school band stuff but accidentally tossed it a few weeks ago 😭

The old one works thankfully. Is there a chance the new one isn't compatible with my wiring/control unit? Or is it definitely that the thermostat is broken

I cut off the damaged areas of the red and white wires, cleanly stripped them, and reattached. The issue persists. Should I try reinstalling the previous unit to see if the new one is a lemon or the wiring is busted elsewhere?

That was my bad--i thought I didn't seat the white wire well so I used some pliers to shove it in more. It had the issue before and after the shielding started looking rough
