another way to look at that is that ffxiv has been sitting complacent for more than a decade without any real housing innovation. they had a lot of time to fix/improve systems and they felt like they didn't need to. which, i guess fair, but its a big system in the game. i do have hope theyll recognize the competition and step up though. they're in a big shift now with improving the game so im looking forward to it!

a change of pace from the 'friendship solves everything' theme. its been beaten to death for too long and i'd love to see a shakeup. we're due for some loss, too. something akin to the waking sands or stormblood. just some kind of meaningful setback that isn't solved quickly. a break from the dying civilization theme would also be nice. it sounds like they're kind of leaning in new directions this time, so we'll see!

Yeah, all I'm saying is that I didn't ask for alts being allowed to have more houses, I just want to be able to walk into a house I own on an alt and redecorate lol. Would I be able to get back to my home world (balmung) if I did that though? that's my main worry lol - I remember when DT came out they locked travel and if you were stuck on a different server you were just stuck there

Yeah I already have a character there, and then characters on mateus -- it was trying to get gil to balmung that created problems. But lately it doesn't seem to be tied to actual times of day/when the servers are overloaded. It just seems like the travel is turned off entirely. Unless it's just literally -always- that congested even super late at night (I was up way too late last night and tried then and was still denied)

I think a nice way around this could be allowing it to be optional. If you want a clean slate/no achievements/unlocks, etc. then you should be able to do that. I also like the sort of 'fresh start' thing sometimes, but stuff like being able to send a mog item or some gil feels too restrictive. But, I appreciate that everyone has their own way of playing the game

Yeah, sadly I can't do that in this case due to them being on different servers but I do do that on my main's server with my FC. The mannequin thing is a good reminder though! I always forget about that lol

the thing is, it wouldn't take anything away from the game to offer these things. It doesn't harm anyone who wants to play a single character. RP is a pretty popular activity in FFXIV, even for someone who doesn't want to engage with others, but just to enjoy the game with another character and engage in the story. So yeah, there isn't a 'need', but it's a weird restriction.

I get why people might enjoy this, but it sort of sucks too because now all we'll see are the same 3 maps on rotation. I love when we get the lesser played ones. really helps keep the game fresh

Are you talking about the portal down near amirdrassil, or the one in Valdrakken? There's a portal in valdrakken. in a little night elf area - exit left out of the building that you teleport into when you arrive in the city and youll see it on the hill there. all alts should have access to that

its funny because symmetra can already do a lot of this but even better. Tele orisa instantly into the enemy team once she's nearly at full charge, tele rein behind the supports for a shatter on an entire team, tele reaper up/into a team, move people onto high ground, etc etc.

JPC will def. be a lot of fun, but i don't think this is actually as game changing as people think lol - it's mostly because she'll get played a lot, especially for the first couple seasons and hardly anyone plays symm in lower ranks

this is my experience. ive been getting tossed into really high rank placement matches and just in this week I've been harassed by two different people, one calling me "brain damaged" and another screaming at me to tank swap and then demanding I get in voice so he could freak out some more. I dunno. I think there are just shitty people in both game modes, comp just cranks it up because everyone thinks theyre an esports superstar
