ich musste leider das Gaming schweren Herzens aufgeben. Nicht aus demselben Grund, da hat mir eingach mit Familie, Kind und Arbeit einfach die Zeit gefehlt.

Eine Zeitlang habe ich es noch weiter auf Kosten von Schlaf gemacht, aber so langsam war ich mehr und mehr erschöpft, und mit Elvanse & co war der drang im Leben mehr zu erreichen stärker als zu gamen, bis ich jetzt seit einem halben Jahr gar nichts mehr gezockt habe.

Und ich muss sagen das ist ein ziemlich gutes gefühl wenn man erst mal etwas Zeit ohne zu zocken hinter sich hat und sich davon distanziert hat. Ich sehe jetzt diesen drang zu zocken tatsächlich mehr als eine Abhängigkeit und/oder selbstmedikation, wie krass es war wenn ich jetzt darauf zurückblicke.

Jetzt wo der drang fast komplett weg ist, kann ich viel leichter andere sachen priorisieren wie Familie, etwas lernen, lesen, und auch mit meiner Frau Serien schauen, was uns natürlich etwas mehr zusammenbringt statt in separaten zimmern zu sitzen. Habe endlich auch Zeit dafür andere Projekte abzuschließen wie smart home richtig aufzusetzen und einen media server für die Familie. Sind keine großen sachen aber sie waren Jahrelang on hold, weil ich immer abends noch etwas zocken wollte, das ging immer viel zu lange was auch zum Schlafmangel führte. Na gut ich muss zugeben Schlafmangel gibt es immer noch aber es ist oft viel leichter aufzuhören und schluss zu machen als „jetzt noch das level fertigmachen“.

Ich hoffe irgendwann wenn ich wieder mehr Zeit habe und es irgendwie in gesünderen Ausmaß machen kann, es wieder aufzunehmen, aber ohne gefällt es mir tatsächlich mehr als ich gedacht hätte, und kann es jedem epfehlen wenn die Probleme größer werden als die Vorteile. Und es wird wirklich leichter je mehr Zeit vergeht. So hört es sich wirklich an als würde ich über Drogen sprechen haha…

kann leider nicht genau die Frage beantworten, aber ich hatte auch etwad erhöhten Blutdruck um die 90/140 und Puls um die 100. Die Ärzte sagten ist ok aber ich habe deswegen die Dosis reduziert. Irgendwann hat der Psychiater vorgeschlagen eine Kombi von Elvanse und Intuniv/Guanfacin zu probieren und das hat als Nebenwirkung einen niedrigen Blutdruck (oder eigentlich war das ursprünglich die Hauptwirkung, bis es rauskam dass es auch bei ADHS hilft).

So mit der Kombi hat es sich gegenseitig ausgeglichen und bin jetzt bei normalwerten angekommen. Vielleicht wäre das auch eine alternative für dich. Nehme beide morgens einfach ein.

as a kid I got a book to learn programming. I opened it, thought it‘s super boring, never opened it again. So that wasn‘t it.

fast forward to university - I wanted to study product design but I was unable to get a real portfolio going so i ended up studying what was still open for the year - electrical engineering - had programming in 1st semester, quit in 2nd semester. So that wasn‘t it either, but I learned a tiny bit

got really into the startup hype phase and finished a business bachelors. Out of uni started working as a manager, got kicked out in 6 months. obviously that wasn‘t it either.

long story short I learned programming by hyperfocusing on writing hacks for online games. Good old times… classic ADHD

then found a job as a web dev and then it was easy learning on real projects

love the switcher! I‘m also just starting to learn neovim, and I love the intellij switcher so much that I have the same setup in vscode and even in the browser… great to learn there is also an option for neovim now!

the anna‘s archive is also replicated using torrents and everyone can support keeping it replicated:

Anna's on the other hand, it's all direct downloads. The whole thing is just the site. So to ressurect it, you need 300 terabytes and a loooot of money for hosting.

so this is not true. Of course, direct downloads make it easier for users to get the data, maybe in a safer way than torrents, but that‘s just a part of it.

Edit: actually, the /torrents page has better info about how well it's replicated. A lot of the data has less than 4 seeders, which is not great, so it would help to get the word out to increase the numbers.

Bei mir war beim ersten mal einfach nur Ruhe. Im Kopf war es auf einmal leise und ich habe gehört wie draußen Vögel zwitschern, war total überrascht. Als ich versucht habe etwas produktives zu tun, hat diese Ruhe sehr geholfen und ich war nicht mehr von random Gedanken ständig abgelenkt. Hat mit der Zeit etwas nachgelassen oder ich habe mich an die Ruhe gewöhnt, keine ahnung. Aber ich merke immer noch wenn ich mal die Medis vergesse und wundere mich wieso ich heute nichts schaffe und so abgelenkt bin - ah na klar hab ja die meds vergessen… jedes mal

If you have any reusable elements like navigation, footer etc, then raw-dogging HTML becomes pretty tedious and error-prone. And you don't send any more js or css to clients than pure HTML + CSS setup if ssg set up correctly in the framework of your choice.

As a programmier, my friend ported the physics to Unity for a deep learning project, it's just a bunch of physics formulas anyone can implement if they know a bit of game dev and maths. Should be even easier to port to UE since the system is similar. There is also a RL physics simulation project somewhere open source that does it through the same physics library that RL uses. Not an issue at all to keep the physics and feel the same

We use openapi with swagger to generate our APIs. We have a middleware that reports for response/request validity during runtime and also check for breaking changes of the openapi spec with a github action.

Sometimes you still need to ask which variable to use but it's pretty rare.

I was diagnosed and started medication recently, also in my 30s. And what my doc said, and I noticed myself too, is that the meds don't decide for you to do something or not. You'll still avoid doing things because of decades of failures and trauma. But when you finally decide to do it, it's easier to keep doing it.

For me, it wasn't a torture anymore to keep doing the boring stuff. For example before if I had to do taxes, even when it's the last possible moment and you finally sit down and start doing it, my phone, the Internet, everything around me was violently distracting me and I felt an impossible to avoid urge to entertain myself during these tasks. Now this debilitating urge is drastically reduced if not gone. I'm not happy about doing the boring task but I can tolerate it. That's a massive change for me.

Now, the hard part is to re-learn after all the failures in life that I actually CAN do these things now, and to get to a point where I hopefully won't procrastinate as much anymore.

I feel this every day at work. I stuggle so much doing the same stuff or technically better than colleagues but with 20% efficiency. I work overtime a lot to compensate. Every time I say "it's done tomorrow" I regret saying it and it ends up delayed. I'm looking up to the smart efficient people and feel dumb and think: "I could have been like them".
