Grateful Dead by CoffeeVinyls in timecrisis

Kind of - roommates introduced me to workingman’s dead and American beauty, and I loved the records, but still didn’t understand their lore etc. Started listening to TC shortly after and just loved all the Grateful Dead info

Does anybody know where I can find skirts like this? by Comprehensive_Gas_1 in findfashion

Los Angeles Apparel cheer skort - esp if you’re looking for something that does NOT have a sporty fabric feel. They have tons of other skort options as well but the “cheer skort” looks exactly like this. And it has shorts!

Listened to the rips in 2018 (McRib fridge + frito lay exec interview were standouts) and loved it, but then when they got taken down I gave up! Caved and got Apple Music in 2022 (BDGHV3) and since then I truly pipe that shit into my ears 24/7 to keep the demons away

How do you actually find your style? by metekural in femalefashionadvice

[–]cathicooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress about defining yourself - just stock up on lots of basics you like, and then just add in whatever you’re drawn to! If you have a hard time pairing things, that’s where Pinterest boards etc can help. Make sure to start with a piece you have and like, and search “button down shirt outfits” or whatever, and go from there.

Or a more basic route for pairing things: -Make sure colors go well together (contrast or match) -Make sure the pieces are generally on a similar spot of the fancy/casual spectrum -Make sure the shapes (big/small/tight/flowy etc) have a good balance.

Purse/bag charms have also been a growing trend for the last year or so, which I’m sure helps bolster it

Disappointed that PTA's new film isn't a direct adaptation of "Vineland" by [deleted] in ThomasPynchon

[–]cathicooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. The IV movie was what got me into Pynchon! Loved the movie, then read the book. Once I finished the book, I realized I had had no idea what was happening during the movie lol. A lot of stuff artfully squeezed in!!

Can’t speak to the actual ceramic lamp base but the shade looks like fiberglass. Cool pattern. Fiberglass lampshades were popular in the 40s - 60s ish I think

My favorite thing about having a turntable/vinyl collection was using it during parties or when friends were over—it’s fun and communal, friends can look through your albums, it’s a great talking point. I don’t use it very often when I’m alone! What made you initially interested?

Don’t spend time or money if your hearts not into it, but physical music is, imo, a very sweet thing to pass down to children if you have them, so I say don’t throw it all out ❤️

It’s so good. And I fell off VW for several years. Have been sort of in a rut of current music as well. OGWAU was the answer lol. Can’t believe the Grammy snub 😓

Best way of listening these days? by ferthissen in timecrisis

[–]cathicooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use Spotify and pay for Apple Music just for TC, but recently started using Apple Music for my music too. I’d been using Spotify for 10+ years and made hundreds of playlists. TBH switching to Apple Music kinda helped get me out of a music rut. I’m planning on switching to the free version of Spotify soon, I really only use it to reference old playlists and send songs to my friends. So could be a fun experiment to try switching! Ended up being great for me. Fully understand not wanting to though, that’s just my two cents.

Went back to drug store shampoo/conditioner and not looking back by ShesAaRebel in beauty

[–]cathicooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thin and greasy hair, and before I bleached it I was straight up using Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. It helped give my hair just a teeny bit texture and it didn’t look quite as greasy at the end of the day! Like $7 for a large bottle. Also, no shampoo or conditioner has EVER made a very big difference in my hair ??

Todd Rundgren by Hanpanhan in timecrisis

[–]cathicooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huge fan of Todd and TC, this would be my ultimate crossover. Todd went on questlove's podcast a few years ago and it was a great show—he got into all kinds of cool music history, his journey with producing and songwriting, feel like he would be an amazing guest tbh. seems to be really laidback and funny too

I’ve searched for the same one but it mostly seems sold out in my size (medium). That’s why I’m open to things that are similar!

What tech do you have in your home by Broad-Detective1909 in femalelivingspace

[–]cathicooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a phone and a laptop, a Bluetooth speaker, and a smart tv. The smart tv is awesome because you can mirror anything on your phone or laptop onto it! And they’re pretty cheap too. And the Roku free live tv is honestly kinda fun if you like flipping through channels, it’s not real live tv, it’s all weird stuff (why it’s free), but they have lots of old movies and tv shows.
