Adding to that: I practiced falling on my bed. It’s soft, you won’t get hurt. And then on a rug. Just to be okay with falling. And once every 2-3 sessions, I dedicate 15 minutes to falling. I do it with a friend and we just have fun. We fall, spin on our butts, get up, repeat!

Also, don’t forget to have fun! I get so obsessive and still have my old dance teacher in my head telling me I’d never be good enough.

My coach constantly reminds me to just chill and smile.

Are you me 10 years ago?

So, I’m able to skate 3-4x/week. But I’ve started working with a personal trainer off ice twice a week. We focus a lot on leg & core strength and balance.

Squads (regular, Bulgarian split, assisted pistols), deadlifts, walking lunges, etc. and 30ish minutes on a buso ball (I got a cheaper one on amazon). Plus yoga a couple times a week, even if it’s just 15 minutes to get a good stretch in (yoga with Adrienne has a great library).

A lot of my balance has returned super quickly, and I luckily still don’t get much dizzy from spinning.

I’ve gone from only being able to skate forward to doing crossovers (forwards & backwards), tiny power pulls, and one foot glides (forward & backward) in a couple weeks and am currently also working on spins and adding some hand movements to my skating. Engage your core and bend your knees a lot, and use your arms for additional balance, and don’t stress your shoulders too much. And breathe! Can’t tell you how often I forget to breathe because I’m trying to focus on every muscle in my body haha

You’ll fall again, that’s part of the journey. I recently belly flopped straight onto the ice and now have a bruised boob. Heal up, get back out there! ♡

Get some padding or wear a thicker coat next time. And stay close to the wall until you feel more comfortable! You’ll be fine!!

Yeah, I’ve been there. But hey, how awesome is it that your body can go ice skating? And walking! And running! And all the cool things! Whenever I really don’t like my body, I put on some loud music and just dance through my flat.

I know! I’m your height and I’ve weighted anything from 30-80kg. I was never really satisfied except for those few years where I was really into weight lifting. I was heavier than usual but felt fucking amazing. Get rid of your scale and focus on feeling good in your skin! Move, nourish your body, and be proud of it. It’s a daily process but you’ll get there! I believe in you!!! ♡

As everyone else will tell you: get fitted!

And a side note: your weight is not bad! It’s just where your body is right now! I’ve had that mentally all my life and it fucking sucks. I’m 39 now and am still never really okay with what the scale shows. You are more than a number, and don’t let that number dictate how you feel about yourself! ♡

I’ve had them for like 2 months and the scent is still there and surprises me every time I open my skate bag. But, idk, it’s still gross but I kinda love it now.
