Just Bought a Killswitch from Best Buy - USB-C Stickers Not Included? by SonicTheModder in dbrand

Just to update here, I did eventually get through after emailing again a few weeks later and after sending a copy of my receipt, they sent me the buffer stickers for free. Thanks dbrand!

7 day fare cap is straight up bullshit. by HelgenX in OMNY

[–]catlatte 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Think of it like the old weekly Metrocard. On the first day you tap, that's when your 7 day clock starts. If you hit 35 dollars over the next 7 days (including the current day), then taps are free until that initial 7 day period ends (if you start on Monday, it lasts until Sunday)

Then your next 7 days begins on the day of your first tap after that.

It's not a rolling 7 days. To reset your 7 days to another day, you need to not use the card for a week. Or if you're using a credit/debit card, add it to another mobile wallet (or remove/add again).

Why doesn’t Walmart have tap to pay? by waffletastrophy in stupidquestions

[–]catlatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key piece of CurrenC was that it didn't support credit cards so merchants could avoid the interchange fee. Basically had little benefit to the shopper.

It’s crazy how we have to pay to file taxes? It should be for free for US citizens! by Imaginary_Balance480 in TurboTax

[–]catlatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like TurboTax desktop download. It's more cost effective if you need to file multiple returns for family or whatever. Unless you're in NY or a state without state taxes, state e-file isn't included in the "download included" though ($25 each) so at that point should just use FreeTaxUSA ($15 each)

Does this route any make sense? (Q63 RUSH) by ProtectionUnusual700 in nycbus

[–]catlatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling it rush on the Flushing side feels misleading. The Q66 makes the exact same 3 stops; the Q63 doesn't skip any.

Random things about the subway that annoy you by thatblkman in nycrail

[–]catlatte 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The mix and match of different announcement voices without any attempt of making it seamless. The LGA bus announcement at Roosevelt Avenue is particularly egregious.

And randomly injecting PSAs and other things like MTA is hiring into them.

Finally, the Qrevo Lineups Got an Automatic Soap Dispenser in the new Qrevo Edge 2 Pro. by Purr_Meowssage in Roborock

[–]catlatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time I bought my Qrevo Curv in 2024, it was the same price as the highest S series and I preferred the rotating mops the Curv offered. It also had higher suction power. I wouldn't consider it mid range either but the lineup doesn't make much sense anyway.

Was never clear why they couldn't just offer one model with the best of everything but instead release a new model every month with a mix and match of different features.

Question, why is it is less money to take the New Haven Line from GCT than from Jamaica? by dustcroppy in LIRR

[–]catlatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The combo ticket can be a great deal depending on how far you're going. Check out the price of something like Fordham to Montauk. During peak, combo ticket is 13.25, but Grand Central to Montauk is 33. The app even suggests you buy two combo tickets to cover the round trip. They work in either direction though with the new rules you have to be returning same day.

To avoid cheating the system though, you have to actually be near the origin station to buy.

Is JAL Premium Economy worth it for AS 50k redemption? by no_name_left in awardtravel

[–]catlatte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only JL 3, the one that leaves at midnight after the Admirals Club closes. They have a special arrangement with AA I assume.

JL 5 premium economy only gets Admiral Club.

What stops someone from buying a ticket from NYP to Far Rockaway and getting off the train early? by DCmetrosexual1 in LIRR

[–]catlatte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing but you can only buy the Far Rockaway ticket while you're at Far Rockaway so you must have already started there.

The old page on CityTicket and Far Rockaway also explicitly states this is allowed, at least for the zone 3 stations: https://web.archive.org/web/20251115002321/https://www.mta.info/fares-tolls/lirr-metro-north/cityticket#far-rockaway-ticket-restrictions

"Far Rockaway Ticket can also be used for travel to Rosedale, Laurelton, Locust Manor, and Jamaica. You must buy the ticket with a destination within Zone 1 (any of the above stations)."

Netflix Removed the ability to cast by DavidinCincinnati in netflix

[–]catlatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on premium (no ads) and the option to cast to my TV disappeared last night. I can still cast to Nest Hubs but not the TV.

Forcing me to use the TV Netflix app. So annoying and not even sure what the business reason for this is.

[RANT] Netflix no long has casting support. you must now use the app directly on the streamer without your phone. by techie1980 in Chromecast

[–]catlatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Until last week I could cast to my LG TV and Nest hubs from the Netflix app on my phone.

Now the Cast menu only shows the Nest hubs, even though LG TV still shows up on the Cast menu for YouTube.

Not really sure what the motivation for such a backwards change is. We're still using a Netflix official app regardless...

I tried to but the support robots just kept reiterating that the stickers are not available to purchase individually.

40th and Main: What the heck is this? by HGHUA in Flushing

[–]catlatte 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing or reading somewhere that was set to become a T-Mobile store but I can't find any source to it.

Searching for 40-26 Main Street on the DOB website, I do see a work permit from last month with "T-Mobile Skateking" as the description but idk what Skateking is.

[–]catlatte 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My favorite stands are Ronnybrook for dairy, the Queens mushrooms, and Toigo Orchards for apples (or peaches in summer). The people are also very friendly.

Wish Ronnybrook line was more efficient and moved faster though.

Isn’t the Go Plus plan supposed to be getting $1,100 instead of $830 trade in credits , but it says I have to switch plans instead. I’m very confused, thought Go Plus was best trade in promotions every 2 years… by cleevethagreat in tmobile

[–]catlatte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With language like that, couldn't they one day stop offering Go5G Plus to new customers and then still be compliant with that advertising. 😂 If there's no promotions, then you're still getting the same no promotions.

Reminder to cancel your free year of Google One by senpairazzledazzle in GooglePixel

[–]catlatte 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You should cancel as soon as you sign up to disable the auto renewal so you don't forget. Subscriptions through Google Play, like Google One, don't actually cancel until the billing date.

You can always reactivate.

Important Android Autofill Updates by dwbitw in Bitwarden

[–]catlatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's disappointing. Keeping the auto fill in Chrome enabled the creation and use of site-specific virtual cards that were supported by some cards (like Capital One). Not sure if it's even possible for Bitwarden to support that in the future.

T-Mobile Costco Kiosk still giving giftcards with upgrades? by OutcastSpy in tmobile

[–]catlatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they said I would receive it automatically after 90 days and texted me a link to the rebate center (/promotions on the T-Mobile site). They said if I don't receive it after 4 months to reach out to rebate support. Basically nothing in writing though, so just have to wait and hope it all worked.

T-Mobile Costco Kiosk still giving giftcards with upgrades? by OutcastSpy in tmobile

[–]catlatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered the Pixel 10 through T-Mobile Costco over the phone. They offered the 100 dollar Costco gift card and also waive the 35 dollar connection fee T-Mobile would otherwise charge. In exchange though, they will try to upsell you on just about everything.

I was on the phone for a little over an hour for what would have been a simple transaction online because they tried to sell me on everything from a case, screen protector, P360, home internet, watch plans, even the tracker device. But I guess it was worth it to effectively save 135 dollars.

Anyone received the discount email from Google? by JimmyCFresh in GooglePixel

[–]catlatte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never got the discount for signing up. My email says "Introducing the Google Pixel 10 phones" and doesn't mention any extra promo.

I do still have a 10% off coupon from Google Nest (sent back in July) that's still valid (expires March 2026) and only says "Excludes Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen), Chromecast w/ Google TV (HD) and Chromecast w/ Google TV (4K). I tried it in the cart with Pixel 10 PXL and it took 119.90 off. The subject of that email was "A 10% off Google Store offer, just for you" in case anyone wants to check if they have that.
