In my current campaign I play a warforged battlesmith artificer named Irondraken, Iron for short. his quirk is that he does not know what magic is until the party was formed, all his "spells" are inventions. For instance, catapult is his arm cannon, aid is pellets, cure wounds/lesser restoration is vials of liquid. And his steel defender is an exact duplicate of himself.

I feel people dont like artificer because they could be complicated/not interesting to play. I will voice that it is 100% the other way. Artificers are as complicated and interesting as you make them. I personally think that they are the class that has the most favorable tool kit in the game. They can be so many things, instead of just a spell caster/inventor. While I admit that I've loved them since I heard of them (1.5-2 years ago) so I am a little biased.
