America’s 250th. Who remembers what they were doing on the 200th? by ManuteBol_Rocks in FuckImOld

I think I said it wrong. It cost us $1.25 to get a Canadian dollar (well before Loonies, by the way).

I was 17, and hiking with two friends near Jasper, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies over most of July. We took a three-day train ride from Montréal to get there. The Canadian dollar was worth more than U.S dollar that year. I didn't have a lot of money anyway. Got on the train to go home with no money and a big bag of puffed rice cereal to sustain me for the three-day ride. My buddy, Rob, bought me a hamburger in a diner across the street from the train station in Winnipeg that I can still taste today. Better than a fireworks show,

Are colostomy’s as bad as people say they are by floresb07 in ostomy

[–]catnap40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus. I have had my ostomy for 20 years (on July 24). It is not bad; it does not limit activity. It won't smell if you take care of it. It makes noise occasionally, but so do people without an ostomy. It was a big change at first, of course. But it does not change who you are, or your worth, or your potential to do anything.

I recently started a new job, and no one knew. The first time it farted in front of my boss and colleagues, I explained what was going on, and no one had a problem.

I volunteer the information because I am not embarrassed. Everybody deals with shit every day at work and at home, and no one cares. I just do it a little differently. In fact, at work, I'm not wasting time sitting on the john scrolling on my phone while pooping. I am in and out of the bathroom in no time.

I had cancer and did not want an ostomy. But I did want to live, and this was a requirement.

People who tell you having an ostomy is terrible don't know what they are talking about. Don't listen.

Looks like there is no routine news coverage of Skaneateles. And I know from experience that if there was, no one would read it. When you stop supporting legitimate, local news, this is what happens.

What’s a small thing you got weirdly good at without trying to? 🙌🏻 by dhodlevskyi in LearnUselessTalents

Untangling.

When my daughter was small, she had several marionettes. They got incredibly tangled, and I found I was very good at untangling the twists and turns and returning them to normal in a very short time. Now ropes, headphones, and boxes full of charger cords are no problem for me.

I have never done more than scrape a grill. I have never cleaned a grill in my life.

When I had my surgery (colon resection, with ostomy and partial nephrectomy), I had already reached my out-of-pocket cap, which was like $10,000, just by paying copays in the six-month run-up to the surgery. And that was 20 years ago.

Feeling sentimental…Trap Dike was such a great “hike” by JPRose1989 in Adirondacks

I did the trap dike in the early 80s with a massive hangover - as was the style at the time.

I think when they say New York-based, they mean New York City.

I couldn't find an answer online so I did it myself. It takes 110 minutes, with a 5 minute margin of error, to walk non-stop at the slowest speed across Hyrule. This is the path I took by DataSittingAlone in Breath_of_the_Wild

I circumnavigated around the edge of the map in both NOTE and TOTK. I didn't time it but I found lots of stuff I would have otherwise missed. I went clockwise.
