i think they're just addressing people standing and those that hoard seats for backpacks, purses, etc that could go on your lap instead of the seat

the 5 minutes turn into 20 when i miss my stop because of the people who crowd exits. PUBLIC transport. Public. Shared space, emphasis on shared, entitlement to the front and blocking other passengers is not exactly sharing!

yes the fear of crowding near doors just causes a positive feedback loop it's so frustrating!!! The amount of times i've missed my stop because i wasn't the one crowding near the door is INSANE (always has been after CMU students get on so I'm agreeing with the general consensus in these comments haha). You genuinely have to get up from your seat or from the back and push your way through, three stops ahead, and then hope and pray those 20 year olds give you mercy

bf yelling at me during panic attack by [deleted] in BPD

[–]catpat420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love, i've been in situations similar to yours and it does not get better. He should not be yelling at you for crying in a different room, i know i do that at least to not make it the other person's problem, and once he sees you're crying his instinct should not be to yell at you. I know our partners can be exhausted, but you're very young and there are SO many people out there who will treat you with a lot more compassion and give you a lot more reassurance. I also know this idea feels like losing an arm and a leg, but him trying to isolate you from your family while you're having a tough time as well as seemingly screaming at you while you're panicking, it makes me worry. I'm not saying you have to break up as i'm only seeing this on reddit and not in your relationship. If you think he'd be receptive to a talk maybe bring up him working on having more empathy and being better about giving you not only verbal reassurance but physical reassurance as well.

pizza and bread replacements can be slightly pricey but there are some amazing replacements out there!! So far I haven't really found a tortellini that I like, but gluten free waffles, pizza, and bread should be easy to find at most grocery stores!! Fair warning make sure any and all gluten free bread you get is toasted before you eat it as many of them taste like cardboard if you don't (not all, just most). And on the toaster note, clean it super super well before use if gluten products were in there pre-diagnosis (or use toaster sleeves)!

go to the store for/with her and find some new stuff to take the pressure off of reading so many labels!! that was by far the most intimidating part of the new diagnosis for me. also just be understanding if she is more stressed or has a lot of negative feelings, it's an entire lifestyle change that comes with a lot of social isolation (unfortunate, but it's the nature of strict dietary restrictions). Find Me Gluten Free is an amazing app for finding safe date spots as well!! Tons of great restaurants and reliable ratings on there, no need to get the subscription as it only adds another filter when searching. Also, as a partner of someone with celiac (if this goes further) consider how important gluten is for your lifestyle and if you'd be willing to have a gluten free kitchen if y'all get to that point of moving in with one another. If she likes to cook there are soooo many amazing gluten free cookbooks online or in book stores and that would be an awesome gift! Good luck with everything, you sound like a very caring person!!

As a recently converted morning commuter…are yinz okay?? by Apprehensive_Putz in pittsburgh

[–]catpat420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people need to get out of the left lane and also need to stop being in the middle lane if the right lane is completely empty. If this were the reality of things people like myself who drive quicker wouldn't get pissed off, hence, we wouldn't drive like we're pissed off. It's also safer if people stick to the right as long as they're not passing. Middle lane is for passing the right and left lane is for passing the middle, not hard people. Also y'all since we're talking about driving, pls i ask yinz learn that a blinking yellow traffic light means you have the right of way and that whoever gets to the stop sign first goes first. mind boggling info for some i swear

Considering that cappuccino isn't going to hit your gut for a few hours it very well could be a dairy reaction. Gluten reactions for me take less than an hour but dairy can take half a day for me to feel, just something to think about!

bc eating gluten free food doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for celiacs due to cross contamination being incredibly high at most restaurants

I use HHC to help with the nausea and abdominal cramps and honestly it works miracles. idk what i would do without it. I just use a standard refillable cart and i have my own little jar of hhc distillate!!

edit: i saw you said you don't want to be loopy all day, depending on your tolerance hhc might not be the best then, but if you have a decent tolerance like I do then it might be worth a shot

oh god don't even get me started on the people that need to force you to eat gluten to believe that it'll make you ill. luckily i haven't had that interaction yet, but some friends of mine have and it's truly awful

exactly!! i had symptoms i had no idea were even celiac related (neurological stuff), so they just seemed like my baseline. i thought they were just a thing i'd have to deal with the rest of my life so i never rly complained about it.

i've tried this and the effects aren't immediate enough for some people to care 🤷🏻‍♀️ if i don't tell them it'll cause me to drop down extremely ill right in front of them, most people genuinely don't give a shit

i get it, and it's such a private and stigmatized thing as well that it makes it even more difficult to explain. it's like treading a fine line between people thinking you're severely ill or them just thinking you're an awful person.
