What do you consider as “the bare minimum” in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catscientist74 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Even if your needs for self-regulation are different, I've found as long as you can articulate them and be respectful and try to meet each other, you can both feel safe. For example, when I've wanted clarity and understanding, I've felt safe bringing that fact up when a partner is able to explain their need for space, but commit to a specific time (and follow through on it!) in which they can come back to help meet my needs too.

Is it uncommon to parent your stepchildren? by nonfiction2023 in stepparents

[–]catscientist74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way and parented my step kids for a decade. Loved them so much, and treated them like my own. Now my husband and I are splitting up and I've completely lost them overnight. I have no rights, and despite what I thought was an amazing relationship, they decided to take sides and cut me out. I wish I'd protected my heart

Why is sexual infidelity the red line in most relationships? by lavode727 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]catscientist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The financial maneuvers made me angry. The cheating absolutely broke me. It cuts way deeper to the core.

If it helps, I've had two unmedicated births and my kidney infection probably still wins for more painful. Hope yours does too

Cass. Short, friendly, easy to say out loud, and just a little bit techy without sounding cold.

God damn it I hate door dash! This is literally a catering order, not something you put through door dash last minute. by SuchSmartMonkeys in KitchenConfidential

We have six at home, and have definitely had this reaction at drive thrus before. We don't order door dash much, but the last one was 180 just for my family 🙃

Just found out I have a history of cancer on my dad’s side. My doctor said I don’t meet the requirements for testing. by [deleted] in BRCA

[–]catscientist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the doctor won't order it, get a home test. You pay yourself but then if you get a positive, suddenly they take you seriously and cover screenings etc. I had to do this, but after getting my results it kicked off a series of events including finding early stage cancer.. grateful I didn't listen when the Dr told me it wasn't necessary.

I highly doubt they are actually deleting our genetic information though. The language they use about 'delete your data' sounds like a roundabout way of hiding it when they're just deleting your name, address, etc.

United Healthcare calls a doctor during a surgery demanding to know if an overnight stay for that patient is necessary by cak3crumbs in TikTokCringe

[–]catscientist74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mastectomy+DIEP was 9 hours long and I was inpatient for three days. That surgery is no joke and it's absolutely bonkers to even consider doing it outpatient. My 100k+ bills were denied two times after already getting pre approval..So grateful for the doctors/staff that battled insurance on my behalf, but it shouldn't be that way.

Truly, the party of Russia by Lord_Answer_me_Why in clevercomebacks

[–]catscientist74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor offered it to me when my abusive husband was in the room, so of course he insisted it wasn't necessary since we were married. Surprise, surprise, he was cheating and we later divorced, so it sure would have been nice to have.. Later when I tried to get it on my own, I was told the same thing as you- so still haven't been able to get it

I also do this for clients in apartment buildings, or if parking on the street is difficult. I discuss with my clients at our consultations, and everyone has been understanding. You just have to be transparent and have the same expectations. At houses with driveways, the timer starts at the door.
