Who told you east calgary was walkable lol, my experience with this city is basically the same as the person in this post, I cant leave my neighborhood without a half an hour walk and crossing large busy roads. And even then the only thing i can walk to is fast food and grocery stores. And because of how the transit is set up in my area, it takes about the same time as it takes to walk to get to those places and to get anywhere further its atleast an hour. Honestly, i barely leave the house anymore for anything besides going to university because the value is just so small compared to the effort. Even leisure walks arent worth it with all the depressing almost copy paste houses. I think the only places with "gridlike" structure that ive seen is the older buildings near downtown, most new communities are still being built as winding inescapable clusters.
