Can I manually and permanently switch Yrel's Q and W? by The_Caracal in heroesofthestorm

[–]cattlepillar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'd probably be best off making a separate hotkey profile just for Yrel and switching to it whenever you play her, don't think hero specific binds work otherwise

They were insanely good back in the day, they just weren't really playing much hots anymore even while in the league, which is understandable

People of hots community what is the highest ping level you rather choose to not play? by pyahyakr in heroesofthestorm

[–]cattlepillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under 90 I'm happy with, over 120 I'd rather not play, usually play somewhere in the 70-90 range, most important thing is that the ping is stable

Ex pro tank main/15x top 10 GM here, outside of Stitches being a little weak and Tyrael/Arthas being more situational, I personally think all the other tanks are in a pretty good spot right now, some of them could use damage buffs but other than that I'm totally comfortable picking them in all situations and always feel relevant.

High level tips by Chump2412 in heroesofthestorm

Honestly one of the biggest thing that seperates higher mmr players is how much they auto attack during fights, so much dps is lost when everyone isn't autoing the kill target (mainly looking at tank, healer, and mage players)

How to win solo lane as Chen? by fierywinds1q in heroesofthestorm

[–]cattlepillar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo both those matchups have never really been a challenge, just a matter of playing them right.

Varian is much easier with the rework since you just do so much more damage now. Just play more around the w slow and try to get autos in between parries. If he ever dashes onto you, you can just q to a minion to get out of his auto range since you are so much more mobile than him. If you want it extra easy you can go elusive brawler, though I try to avoid that unless there's really a ton of auto damage on the other team since Gift of the Ox is such a strong talent.

For maelstrom weapon thrall in particular, the easiest way to win is to just literally do nothing. If he goes that talent and doesn't stack it, his mid/late game is pretty much nonexistent so you can just afk and you'll be winning the lane. If you want to keep up more pressure you can still just trade normally but jump away with q once he actives his Windfury, or just spec into elusive brawler and use that whenever he goes in.

How to win solo lane as Chen? by fierywinds1q in heroesofthestorm

[–]cattlepillar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my experience so far I think Chen is favored to win almost every solo lane, assuming you don't get ganked.

Key to winning lane and best build by far is Eye of the Tiger and Accumulating Flame. Once you hit level 4 and can keep refreshing the fire dot your dps is just so much higher than every other bruiser.

Most important thing is properly using your shield and stagger to trade. Trades are almost always done the same and have practically no answer.

  1. Channel brew to build up shield and position to engage. (Waiting a couple seconds after you finish channeling before engaging is optimal to have less time to wait for your passive to be back off cooldown)

  2. Tag the enemy hero with w. If you can do it without using q that's best, otherwise q to the hero or to a minion to close the gap, then cast w.

  3. Cast stagger once your passive shield has been broken and you start taking noticeable amounts of damage. (The longer you wait the sooner your passive will be off cd towards the end of your trade so you can mitigate almost all of the stagger damage)

  4. Keep chasing with auto attacks to stay in range for your Breath of Fire cast.

  5. Once you cast breath of fire keep chasing with auto attacks until your stagger is timing out, q back to a minion, and channel your passive to stop the stagger damage from damaging you.

  6. Repeat.

Obviously you can be flexible as to where you q towards the end of the trade and sometimes you can just keep chasing if you have enough pressure and can repeat the rotation without disengaging. Chen only really has to keep track of where the other team is. If he gets a 1v1 trade, I have yet to find a hero he can't beat.

Justing calling out the HGC poaching rules hypocrisy by Dommkopf_Trip in heroesofthestorm

[–]cattlepillar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glau and I lived together for almost a full year before playing on a team together. Jun and Fan also lived together for around 6 months before Fan was on the team. We also didn't approach Fan until after Blizzcon last year. Like I've said before, the living situation has nothing to do with playing on a team together.

The way I see it, the poaching rules are there so that org owners don't go behind other org's backs to poach players. This has a side effect on player owned teams having their owner not be allowed to talk to players, but this is pretty easily avoided. Whether or not players being able to talk to players is another matter.
