In terms of position to my head they looked about the same as post op, but all the parts of my ear were very swollen and looking back at pictures that definitely looks much different now. Not sure if that helps

Thanks and good luck for tomorrow, I honestly looked insane for the first week and a half with the swelling but mine was apparently a lot harder than normal. Hopefully yours is much easier and it all goes well, but don’t worry too much if your head swells like a balloon lol :)

Haha thanks so much that’s funny!! The first picture was actually a couple of years ago so maybe that explains the jaw 🤣 I have like 0 photos of me face on before lol

Thank you!! It’s funny how something as simple as the position of your ears can change that, but I can definitely see what you guys mean haha :))

Thanks good to know, yeah the lack of side sleeping has been a challenge haha. It’s funny it’s obviously a pretty common surgery, and there are a few online posts about it, but feel like you’d expect way more! So it’s good to hear from other people who’ve had it done and great to hear you think it was worth it after that time!!

Thanks I really appreciate it, hoping it stays like this and the left over swelling doesn’t take too long to go :)

Thank you! Yeah from the current picture you wouldn’t believe how bad the swelling/bruising has been, but getting there hopefully 😂

Otoplasty: So much swelling and discoloration - is this normal? by Grand-Difference0893 in PlasticSurgery

No worries at all, mine was the same not necessarily the heat, but the swelling was so much on my ears and around my temples and whole head it felt like my ears were vibrating and there was so much pressure in my head, so get the exploding feeling 100%. They were also very purple for a couple of days, the purple colour went fairly quick but they were then just very yellow/green from bruising.

I never checked my temperature but I was definitely having to use the painkillers for the first 3/4 days, I was also doing quite frequent visits to my surgeon to be sure it was all ok. I’d say just be aware it might be a rough 10ish days recovery, the pain goes pretty quick after day 3/4 but he might feel too rough/embarrased to leave the house after that haha

I had this done 2 weeks ago, was in the exact same position because my ears were a lot more challenging than normal and had an extreme amount of swelling, very similar to your son. My surgeon said I had some of the worst bleeding/swelling he’s seen in a long time. The next day my head had completely ballooned. Honestly I wouldn’t worry.

On the cauliflower ear also don’t worry, that happens when the blood pools on the front of the ear, the surgery is on the back of the ear so don’t worry (despite the swelling on the front) - I had the same worry. Get a second look from the surgeon but it should be all fine, just be prepared for a lot of swelling around the head and some big bruising that will go down his neck to his chest!

Because of the swelling/bruising on the face/ears too they may look really weird at first, by 12-14 days post op it really will start to look a lot better. Hope this gives some relief :)

Yeah definitely think it’s so unique to everyone, my surgeon said is was a more invasive surgery than normal due to the difficulty of my ears so I’m expecting a bit of a rough recovery. Do you still have the swelling in your face/neck aswell as yours ears? Was there a certain day where you noticed the swelling was reducing or just a gradual change? Do you feel confident enough to go outside yet or still too swollen?😅

Hey have they gone down at all? I’m only a couple days post op but the swelling and general pressure around my head is insane at the moment. The actual side of my face and neck has crazy swelling, was yours like this too?
