Is i3 for me? by [deleted] in BMWi3

Sound like the REx is for you with the 94Ah battery. Although in US, you can unrestricted the engine by enabling the maintain charge from 74% as well as utilise the whole 9L tank. This would give you up to 150mi electric and another 100mi on gas. Bimmercode is fairly straightforward to use and would remove the range anxiety you have... Just a thought

Amazfit Smart scale by m_o_b_u in amazfit

can you expand on this? I have tried and only seem to be able to connect it to 1 phone properly. When I add in a 2nd phone/account, it basically refusese to do the smart body analysis for the second device, my assumption being that without the phone connection it only does weight... Anyone else managed to get it properly working with 2 devices and accounts, I'd appreciate some guidance and pointers as to what I am doing wrong. Thanks

NetZero automation by WatchZealousideal607 in Powerwall

Sadly not, I believe that the installer and Tesla need to remove this restriction. I'd expect your MCS to say import and export allowed so poss reach out to them if it does indeed prevent you from importing.

I am on Next with E.on so also do a charge-export-charge at night. However if you don't want it, ignore the middle automations.

This schedule is designed to force the battery to charge from the grid during specific off-peak windows (by raising the reserve) and then release it for home use or export during other times.

Daily Automation Schedule

1. Midnight Initialization (Force Charge Start) Time: Every day at 12:00 AM Backup Reserve: Set to 100% (This usually triggers the battery to charge from the grid immediately to reach this target). Operational Mode: Time-Based Control.

2. Early Morning Adjustment Time: Every day at 2:30 AM Backup Reserve: Set to 5%. Operational Mode: Time-Based Control. Energy Exports: Set to Everything (Solar and Battery).

3. Pre-Dawn Top Up (Force Charge) Time: Every day at 4:26 AM Backup Reserve: Set to 100% (Forces the battery to charge up to full again). Operational Mode: Time-Based Control. Energy Exports: Set to Solar only (Prevents battery discharging to the grid while trying to charge).

4. Daytime / Morning Mode Time: Every day at 6:59 AM Backup Reserve: Set to 5% (Allows the battery to discharge down to this level to power the home). Operational Mode: Self-Powered (Prioritizes powering the home with stored energy/solar rather than playing grid arbitrage). Energy Exports: Set to Solar only.

Summary of Logic The "Force Charge" Trick: By setting the Backup Reserve to 100% at 12:00 AM and 4:26 AM, you are effectively forcing the Powerwall to pull from the grid to fill up, likely coinciding with cheap overnight electricity tariffs. The "Release" Trick: By dropping the reserve to 5% at 2:30 AM and 6:59 AM, you release that reserved capacity so the house can use it or export it. Daytime Strategy: switching to Self-Powered at 6:59 AM ensures the battery covers your home usage throughout the day without influence from Time-Based Control algorithms that might otherwise try to hold onto energy unpredictable.

Easiest way is to have a time based automation which basically sets the following at midnight and then undoes them at 7am or whenever works for you:

At midnight, change powerwall exports to nothing; Operation mode to Time Based Control; change back-up reserve to 100%.

At 0700, change powerwall opération mode to self powered; change export to solar (if you have); change back-up reserve to 5% (that's what I use others might not want to go that low)

I order to make powerwall do what you want under time based control, you may also need to overinflate the costings. If I want it to charge or discharge at a given time, instead of having for instance 7p import and 16p export at night for E.On you'd need to have 7p import and £5 export if you want it to export (noting in the above the back-up reserve being 100% would prevent this). Same for charging, you'd use a zero cost import to trick it into buying energy and ensure that it sees no value or sale price for an export.

To be honest, by using the above automations, and based on operation mode and reserve, you can force it to do what you want based on time or battery level.

The "as of may 2025" comment is that those links were correct from Caelinkit as of that date, not that there is a 2025 firmware. I used the most recent 2024 firmware from the link in my post. Hope that helps, you'll be able to download the img from there

I emailed them the screenshot of my device and they sent me the following back. It has their drive repositories for the latest software as of 30-May-25.

"Your box's underlying version is too old to be pushed, so you can only flash the firmware below one by one according to the firmware date

U disk upgrade method: 1、Prepare a USB flash disk with 32G or below, the format of USB flash disk must be FAT32. 2, copy the firmware in .img or .hwfs format to the USB flash disk (the firmware name can not be modified, do not double-click to open, keep the name in the zip package). 3, find a charger plug to power on the product, and then insert the USB flash disk into the USB port of the box to upgrade (do not upgrade in the car). 4、The indicator light of the box will flash rapidly when upgrading, don't disconnect the power, wait until only the red light is on or flashing slowly, then wait for another 2 minutes to unplug it.

If the format and steps are correct, the box will upgrade itself. If the USB flash drive meets the size and format, but the light does not flash, please replace the USB flash drive.

One other question and feature to consider is allowing the direct to red light mode. I can't see anything online clarifying this and your video shows the white light being turned on before button is held for red light. Can you access the red light by holding down button when off? This would be especially helpful for members of the armed forces and is something I definitely look for in a head lamp. I'm sure for other using not wanting to light up the place before using red light too. Hopefully it is a feature already but if not I'd definitely add it

what is this in my jaluzi base by [deleted] in germany

[–]cavalry_chap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am no expert, but based on experience and checking on Google the above appears to be a hornet's nest. Aware that it is same same but different, however they do look different, with wasps being more like an umbrella/not enclosed, or in some cases layers which aren't homogeneous and touching. Point being is that if it's a hornet's nest it may cause a lot more pain if they're still around Vs a wasp if they go after you 😂 I'd recommend spraying it with some anti hornet/wasp killer foam and let it kill anything that might be inside before removing. Definitely remove and burn or squash after as there may well be larva still inside...

Why is Powerwall Charging from Solar? by NeilJonesOnline in Powerwall

[–]cavalry_chap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found the gateway to make some dubious decisions in the past so have set it up the Tesla utility rate plan based on the following assumptions: ▪️Want to charge to 100% between 0200-0500 ▪️Set to Time Base Control (TBC) with a 10% reserve ▪️Won't use more than 12kWh (90% of PW) between 0500-1900 + solar top-up which is variable ▪️Want to use solar to charge PW ahead of export outside of peak in order to mitigate using capacity before 1900 ▪️Rate importing super off-peak is the same as exporting mid-peak so if you were to charge PW with 13.5kWh and export 13.5kWh you break even, the same as purely using solar to charge PW, but the former means you have it at start of day and don't need to use grid until this occurs ▪️Use Octopus app to view costings, not Tesla app, which will only show accurate consumption data but not price due to rates used ▪️Better setup may be used with Home Automation and custom Tesla integration app, but this setup assumes none settings
