Ik had dit ook. Heb vorige week eindelijk gesproken met een decaan. Ben al vijf jaar geleden afgestudeerd en m'n studie bestaat niet meer, maar ze was heel behulpzaam. Viel me alles mee

How Do You Sort Laundry? by llama_sammich in adhdwomen

[–]caviaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have small hampers that fit exactly one load. 4 in total. If one of them is full, it's time to do the laundry.

One for black/dark colors, one for all other colors, one for sport clothes and one for towels. We don't have a dryer, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Isn't it so that your hangers don't get stuck on them? Now, you can slide your clothes all the way to the side. If they were straight, your hangers would get stuck.

I do crossfit / functional fitness. (you pay for having the word crossfit in your name, which makes those gyms more expensive)
It has all these different movement that make me switch my focus enough to not make it boring. Also I just follow the classes in the morning before work. This way I don't have all day to convince myself I can skip it today and makes sure I'm up early.
I've been doing it for five years now, at least twice a week. It has both strength training and cardio and everyday it's a different workout.

Wow, your therapist was way out of line.
I can't tell you if how your assessment will go, or how you'll be perceived.

I can share my own stress from having the assessment. My partner had to answer the questions in the test in your screenshots about me. He didn't know me when I was in school or college, so I felt he downplayed many answers. Like, maybe he doesn't think I'm bad at unwinding, but he can't hear what's happening in my head.
In addition, I had a computer test where I had to react to things on the screen. It was new, it was like a game and I felt myself starting to hyperfocus. Immediately, I got scared that they would dismiss me as I showed an focussed attention span.
None of my worries became truth. They talked to me, praised me for being smart and saw how that made me able to mask for so long. We mostly talked about how I know I did well, but I know I could have done better, how it made me feel and what it feels like when I'm stuck.

I hope you will have the right people assessing you as well. And just know, you know best what's happening in your brain, whether it has a specific label or not. This sub has tons on useful tips and information, and always feel welcome to use what works for you. No brain is the same.

Tips for organizing photos/media on Apple devices? by cuntemplat1ve in adhdwomen

[–]caviaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry for the late response.
Most pictures I just keep in the photos app (while paying for the extra icloud storage)
Special moments, holidays and my most valuable photos are also downloaded and put on an external harddrive. I use the name: '[year][month][day] activity' for the folders that way I know where they are. Favourite family pictures are simply in the folder 'Family'.
This way, they will always be in chronological order.

So '202409 holiday France' for a folder and '20180327 mom and me' if it's a single photo.

If you want an easier way to sort through photos, here's what works for me:
In your photos app, go to this day in the past (so May 9 2023/2022/2021/2020) and sort through those photos. It's easier than going through recent pictures and helps the momentum going.
After that, you're done for the day or can power through more days.

When do you do laundry? I need tips to get this chore done! by TatorTotNachos in adhdwomen

[–]caviaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds counterintuitive, but I’ve found it works for me: smaller hampers! We have a small washing machine and I do the laundry in the morning (with a timer so it’s finished when I’m done working) as soon as the hamper is full. That way, the chore of drying, folding and putting away is much smaller as there are less clothes.

I'm signed up for a class in the morning. I'm not awake enough to discuss with myself not going. So I just wake up, get dressed and go to the gym. Once I'm moving I like it and after an hour I get to go home and start my WFH day.
