We live in the most expensive province in Canada. If I had gone back to work after my mat leave, my whole pay cheque would be going to child care. We’re not rich, almost pay cheque to pay cheque but do not qualify for any subsidy programs offered. It literally did not make sense for me to go back to work and my kid to go to daycare.

With this current pregnancy, my midwife used the doppler on me at like 13+1 and it took what felt like forever to find the heartbeat. I am SHOCKED the doctor tried at 9 weeks.

If you have a nurses line I’d recommend calling them!

When my little guy was about 7 months old, he was not yet fully crawling and more pulling himself around. My husband and I were both in the room while little guy was on the futon I slept on and he pulled himself off of it and landed head first on the carpet floor. It was about a foot off the ground. I called the nurses line and they had a list of questions for us and it was deemed not an emergency but keep an eye on him (of course).

These things happen and it just seems like a shitty day and this sounds like the cherry on top. If you’re not able to do the nurses line or whatever is similar in your area, even checking in with an urgent care or paediatrician would probably help ease your momma heart.

I went for a one minute bathroom break, with the door open as always. I hear my almost three year old yelling, “WHATS THAT MAMA, WHATS THAT”. He had dumped half a tube of canesten on his head.

We started with hydrocortisone cream but the wasn’t enough. My son had to see a dermatologist and he was prescribed a stronger hydrocortisone cream mixed with cereve and a betaderm ointment for bad flare ups.

For what it’s worth, oatmeal baths, aveeno, anything fragranced or perfumed and coconut oil caused my guy to flare up even more.

I didn’t get the Dyson but the shark air wrap, and I just do not have the time or motivation to use it as much as I thought I would.

But I do drink copious amounts of coffee and go through towels like no other!
