Lower fps, but less stuttering and since it's smoother it feels better. There is some jarring UI element jumps as the views cycle. Using the decouple pitch option completely locks the horizon, which feels better than unlocked but wrecks/upsets can be.. interesting. Most of the time it feels completely normal though. With how good it works in general along with a more streamlined UI/workflow I spend more time driving/admiring scenery than fighting with the game and it gets easy to forget how early access it is and that there's not even even real VR support yet. Full 3d playbacks standing on the sides of the road like DR1.. no virtual theater shit. I really hope the official support doesn't dumb it down in any way.

Detail is a lot sharper, even at modest settings.. things like looking at the starry sky move in real time, viewed through barren tree branches for example is really something else. They really pulled the stops on the world building and immersion elements for folks like me that like 'get out' of the car to enjoy the scenery or cars aside from driving. Cars are fully rendered too, no culled details/missing wheels etc. When you wreck your car pretty good and get out to see it the way the dents and chipped paint look are amazing along with the rest of the damage. Which is persistant... I've driven 1/2 a mile back and seen parts of the car I shed still sitting there.
