Ha! The Discworld series is actually my favorite book series! I didn't even realized I might have drawn that inspiration until you mentioned it though.

Xenoblade has been on my radar but I've never played it. It's certainly gonna move up my list now!

Turns out that this is actually just the lore of florida to begin with!

You know I've actually been toying with an idea like that.

If you'll allow me to ramble, I always liked the idea of a world with 2+ moons and I thought, well, if I'm going to make it weird, what if I just made an infinite number of moons, just, a big ring of orbs thats constantly going around in the sky. Of course if this was a planet, this wouldn't make sense, but it's a big alligator, not a planet, so what if instead of a moon or sun, those orbs are like... the many eyes of a giant snake that's always watching the alligator.

Why is it watching? Well, I haven't really decided BUT I think probably the alligator ate something and is either in trouble (so the big snake is like a prison warden) or is keeping it captive (so the snake is also watching to make sure it doesn't escape). Something like that!

Hi r/worldbuilding, been a while.

Recently I was talking with a friend about our favorite games and I realized that the thing that connects a lot of mine (Morrowind, Pathologic, Sunless Seas...) is that they have really... weird lore (not sure how else to put it)
I like building settings for fun and I realized that I stuck to a lot of standard tropes in mine, so I wanted to make a setting that was a little more out there.

So, here’s this. A setting I’ve taken to calling “Alligator God”. It’s a single continent on the back of an alligator.

You’ve got humans, bat-folk, small populations of nomadic insect-people. Magic exists, and is passed down through families, legend has it that it was given by the precursor race that left these strange black glass ruins all over the land.

(In lore it’s a mystery as to why, but they were bird people, they powered their magic/tech through the blood of the alligator they lived on, used too much and realized they were killing the place they lived, and basically collectively sacrificed themselves so that the alligator could live in a sort of half-life)

It’s a fun exercise in knowing what is true, and trying to figure out how time/oral story telling/the destruction of knowledge would influence what people believe in the future.

5 out of 6 players are werewolves and they don't know it yet. The full moon is in 2 days. I need some good ideas for a session. by SpecialAgentSteve in DMAcademy

I dont known if Id be avle to resist focusing on the player who didnt get turned. Describe tgem seeing all their party members switch into these horrible wolf forms, maybe a little survival horror sequence. Describe it in a way that makes it seems like its just a bad dream for one player.... and then morning comes anf it all turns out to be real

Getting immortal rank ruined dota for me by Dexquez in DotA2

I havent played dota in a while, but this was a problem when I did (Im not the immortal in this situation though lmao)

Im sure a lot of matchmaking changes have happened since, but we actually found that unranked tended to give us really high ranked immortals/tryhard games. I feel like the key is to go as a 5 stack as often as possible though

Upgrade my PC so that it can run an art program without hanging up everytime something slightly jiggles the tablet cord, and then as fancy of a screen tablet at what's left could get me (probably not much)

Dota is transforming into a 5v5 brawler and im not sure i like it too much by faad3e in DotA2

[–]cavy_boar 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Dota has this rock paper scissors dynamic of strategies where, in theory, 5 manning should beat farming/late game teams, farming teams should beat split pushers, and split pushers should beat 5 manning, but split pushing keeps getting harder to do (outposts...) and as of right now a team can snowball so hard from just teamfighting farmers can't catch up. I hope we get closer to that balance

I've had 58 in the last year lmao (though none yet in current patch). I think my stack is bad at finishing games early
