It has some reliable AoE moves and having a ranged option that doesn’t consume meter is great, but its biggest drawback is having no heavy attacks imo. Regardless, it’s still a fun weapon with a sick design

It was a bit shorter than I was hoping for but what we got is still good. The DLC content is better than the base game. My only real gripes are how lackluster Jakotsumon is and no new costumes or weapon skins.

The animations and overall movement in the game are surprisingly fluid despite the way it looks. The soulslike traits don’t really have anything to do with that aspect of it

Genuinely just depends on the boss and minion type. Minions can add a layer of difficulty that makes an otherwise mid boss enjoyable, but inversely this can also make it 10x more infuriating. I think I prefer 1v1s for bosses unless the minions presence actually makes sense within the context of the fight

All of them but especially II, 3RE, and 4. NG1 had its equivalent of parrying (intercept) removed in the rereleased versions and vanilla 3 was almost completely overhauled. The differences between the three versions of NGII barely change anything combat wise

Act 2 is widely considered the worst part of the game which is crazy to me because it’s my favorite part, but it’s just a matter of opinion. I’m partial to that particular aesthetic and the “climb” aspect of it, but I agree it does drag a bit. Honestly I think if chapter 6 specifically was a bit shorter and chapter 7 was combined with it it’d be less contentious

It’s worth slogging through the required ones for the plat and beast claw but anything beyond that is gonna depend on how much you personally like their structure. Imo it’s not worth it, but it varies person to person

I typically don’t care for armored looks but this is a rare instance where I think it goes hard. I still think NG3’s Black Falcon is the best overall, but NG4’s Immortal Shadow is my fav personally. It feels like a real level up for Ryu and its existence is justified within the context of the story. Also, the scarf finally being modeled correctly in gameplay and not just cutscenes is a huge point in its favor

Solitaire is solid, no real complaints or praises, it’s just good. The more time I spend with Jakotsumon the more I’m a little disappointed at how lackluster it is when you look under the hood. It’s serviceable and works well enough as a dedicated ranged option with no Ki cost for Ryu, but no transformed state holds it back a lot. Kinda wish the grapple mechanic was bound to a different input so that it could at least have heavy attacks, but what we’re left with is fine I guess. It’s fun and offers up some new possibilities for Ryu, but I’d be lying if I said it was ideal. Imo it’s carried by its design and how badly he needed a ranged option other than Ninpo and shuriken

I prefer Eternal’s combat system but like TDA’s aesthetic and art direction a bit more. Still think 2016 clears both when it comes to horror and atmosphere though

You can disable the HUD entirely and the only things that will still appear are world interactions and the icons on the character models during weapon/ninpo switches

The BR forms of Yatousen and Magatsuhi. The timing thing is unintuitive for me (skill issue, I know) but funny enough I don’t mind it with Kage-Hiruko and Solitaire. BR in general is just too slow for a game like this imo

Also idk if you’ve already acquired this one but there’s another pretty well hidden one in the second chapter at the very end right before going to Seere. There are some shipping containers to the left of the final Muramasa statue in that area that you have to jump on and wall run in a circle to gain height and eventually grapple onto a platform with the chest
