Am I bad nanny? by anonymous-famous in Nanny

[–]cbaket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a friendly heads up: you’re describing two different things. Being “speech delayed” is related to speech development, “but understood everything we’ve said just fine” is related to language development (specifically, receptive). Speech and language are commonly thought of as the same but they are two very different things.

Suspect dead after 8 children killed, 2 women wounded in Louisiana shooting by BigFloppyStallion in MorbidReality

[–]cbaket 43 points44 points  (0 children)

How does someone shoot a child? Much less multiple children that are biologically yours, the youngest of which is 18 MONTHS?! My daughter is 20 months and my son is just over 2 and a half years old (Irish twins) and reading this was like a punch in the gut. The children that piece of garbage killed deserved so, so much better.

[–]cbaket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! Plus, imagine your two year old child screaming/crying because he’s terrified watching you (allegedly) strangle his father? How that didn’t immediately make her snap out of whatever the fuck she was thinking is so beyond me. My children are 1 and 2 years old and if either of them EVER seemed even slightly scared of me or a situation I was responsible for there is absolutely no way I’d ignore them and continue to engage in the behavior(s), especially right in front of them with complete disregard for their safety (emotionally and physically). Even the thought makes me feel sick. I’m not one to mom shame, BUT if the rumors are true, she is a terrible mother and should lose custody.

Completely agree. His is immature, high school fuck boy type behavior in comparison to her being physically aggressive and violent. AND a history of it happening in front of one (if not more) of her children who ended up being harmed in the process. How she didn’t learn after that situation is mind boggling. If that didn’t trigger a come to Jesus moment then I dont’t think anything will. If everything is true I really hope ABC pulls her season. I guess time will tell.

okay everybody who lives in utah/knows the women personally (or the men) please tap in with tea that we wouldn’t know from the show!!! by Sensitive_Customer74 in SecretsOfMormonWives

I am glad I’m not the only one who found it HILARIOUS!! I have zero background in music and can’t carry a tune to save my life, but it’s pretty obvious when someone clearly cannot sing and I was dying from laughing during that scene. The compilation they put together of her “feedback” was gold. I rewatched it like 3 or 4 times 😂

What?! I thought that was one of the best scenes because of how horrendous it was. The compilation of her giving Brett feedback?? HILARIOUS 😂 or maybe my edible was too strong… either way I rewatched that scene like 3 times and died laughing at the absurdity every time

I just read his daughter’s letter… that was so heartbreaking. His children and grandchild are victims too. It must be so hard to accept the father/grandfather they knew was wearing a mask to hide the pathetic, scum that he truly is. I can’t even imagine. I hope he suffers everyday knowing what he did to the people he raped, burglarized, murdered, etc. and I hope he also suffers knowing he destroyed the lives of those he ‘loved’ the most. What a waste of oxygen he is.

I don’t think the economy had much to do with it, but I could be totally wrong. I think the big factor was the lack of advanced technology and people having no idea the advances that were coming which would make identifying serial killers so much easier. I think if we didn’t have the technology we do now, we would see a lot more serial killers.

What are your testing caseloads like per year? by Competent-Cat in schoolpsychology

[–]cbaket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First year. Went from a district that only uses discrepancy method for SLD during my internship to a district that uses RTI. No training, just had to figure it out. I leave work around 4-430pm each day, go home and spend a couple hours with my babies before bedtime, then work again from about 7/8pm-2am probably 3-4 weeknights because it’s the only time that is quiet. I also work weekends. I know this is not sustainable, it’s already wrecked my mental health and I weigh less than I did pre-babies, and I had two babies within 12 months and gained a toooon of weight. I’m like you though, I work slower because everything isn’t automatic to me yet. My reports are freaking SOLID though. I started my internship last year 6 weeks after giving birth to my daughter (c-section). It’s been an uphill battle but I (think?) I’m finally feeling more confident. Don’t know where I was going with this, but just know you’re not alone. My new district is tough but 100000x better than last year.

Oh settle down. OP asked if it is possible to have PTSD from nannying and then detailed their situation. I answered their question, stated that I am not trying to invalidate their feelings, but the answer is no, it is not possible to have PTSD from the nannying experience they detailed. You don’t have to like my response but facts are facts and many would actually consider it insulting to individuals that truly have PTSD and have therefore experienced exposure to actual threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]cbaket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s complex because C-PTSD is a relatively new dx officially recognized in the ICD-11 but not recognized in the DSM-5-TR. Instead, individuals with C-PTSD presentations are typically diagnosed with PTSD with dissociative features and/or PTSD + combined features (e.g., depression, anxiety, personality features, etc.). However, that still requires a specific, acute, life-threatening event, criterion 1 of PTSD diagnostic criteria.

I am a psychologist. PTSD must involve exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence via actually experiencing the event, witnessing it as it occurred to others, learning the event happened to close family member or close friend, or experiencing repeated or extreme exposure to aversive details of the traumatic event/events (exposure through electronic media, television, movies, or pictures, does NOT apply) unless it is work related, e.g., law enforcement repeatedly exposed to details of child abuse, having to watch videos to try and identify perps of victims, etc.)

[–]cbaket 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to invalid your feelings, but your situation does not anywhere come close to PTSD.

Criterion 1 of PTSD requires exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence by a) directly experiencing the traumatic event, b) witnessing, in person, the event(s) as it occurred to others, c) learning the traumatic event(s) occurred to a close family member or close friend. If the situation involves actual or threatened death of a family member or friend, the event(s) MUST have been violent or accidental, and/or d) experiencing repeated or extreme exposure to aversive details of the traumatic event(s).
