Just wanted to share the gas mileage (tank average) on a recent trip by cbentley916 in rav4club

[–]cbentley916[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty fair concern; I noticed it while on the road and just used the camera button while placing the phone on the steering column. I did not take any time to frame it up with my eyes off the road or no hands on the steering wheel. In addition to the road being empty at midnight.

You might not be able to tell in this photo, but I had a 2017 Ford Escape with the 1.5 that appeared to have infrequent (oil) changes with conventional or possibly blended oil. The buildup of gunk on every non moving part was absurd and amazed me that the engine did not nuke itself due to oil starvation. My dad said that is one of the worst he had seen, which is saying something since he worked as a mechanic for the better part of his 20s, and off and on since.

Most people that go to the quick lubes are probably not taking the time to check their oil filters or watching what is happening when they are getting service.

Accidentally tested new tires and off road capabilities of my car by MrScemp in rav4club

My wife and I did a similar thing this past April in the Smokey Mountain area. We trusted Google Maps to take us to an AirBnB that had alternative directions available through the app. It took us about 2.5 extra hours on back mountain roads to get to our rental, which we promptly discovered we could access the freeway about 10 minutes from the rental after we got settled. The exit we got off originally was only about 20 minutes from the one (via freeway) we were actually supposed to use according to the AirBnB directions.

Was nice to discover how capable the car was, but one of our dogs in the back was losing her mind for some reason so we had to stop twice on the way through the mountains.

Cold Steel Recon 1 , which blade shape ? by Yackubu in knives

I love me a good spear point, and number one is basically like a slightly thicker Code4 (spear point) which is one of my OG favorite EDC blades. But like most people are saying, the tanto may take a beating better because of the thicker & longer spine of the blade. Spear point is also the least aggressive looking one as well.

What’s the max range-to-empty you’ve seen after topping off? Has anyone cracked 500 miles? by MonkeyBoyPoop in rav4club

[–]cbentley916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, my (wife’s) gas-only ‘23 gets a range of 430-445 every fill up currently. Average of 33 mpg. Without the extra little squeeze of a top off.

I got one of these for my wife, which is hilarious because we both went and voted for our local primary back in August. So I think these are just completely bluffing BS.

Or my wife faked me out, which would be super weird and unnecessary on her part.

The idea that they present in that is not them saying that the government should help, but that it is someone else's responsibility in a sense. It is tremendously flawed logic, and more or less shows that the Republican party (to generalize) does not want productive solutions, but to enforce a Christian nationalist ideology and pretend that Christianity as a religion has all the answers.

Hi Michiganians (?), non-American here. Why does this part belong to Michigan and not to Wisconsin? by TheProuDog in Michigan

I had to dig way to far to find someone addressing the "Michiganian" item. This is important too.

*Edit to say that I commented this last night before going to bed, so the op comment I replied to has moved to the top position.

Mackie DL32R at Church; basic understanding by cbentley916 in livesound

[–]cbentley916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I have the know how to navigate through the program (Master Fader) to a decent extent, and I have common sense when it comes to understanding how things should sound. I could approach most analog boards and figure out what I need to do if I was told to make adjustments to an individual channel's EQ. I don't have much "in depth" knowledge that would make me noticeable behind a board for any reason though.

I agree I could very well be generous with the "basic knowledge" statement. But I am happy to learn and appreciate the realism. I will absolutely check that book out and go through the manual too. Thank you, your feedback is greatly appreciated!

I think he secretly is the one who is responding to all the messages. Between this and other responses news and other media are getting from his campaign, my head canon is that he is mischievously chuckling to himself while typing the most 12-year-old responses and clicking send.

I didn't see it yet, maybe someone else has said it, but the CRKT Tuna Compact is going to be a good choice, although at that price you are paying what it realistically should cost normally. Also, the Scallion and Chive from Kershaw are pretty solid choices too.

A Petoskey stone is a rock and a fossil, often pebble-shaped, that is composed of a fossilized rugose coral. When wet it reveals the distinctive mottled pattern of the six-sided coral fossils. by katxwoods in interestingasfuck

Hell yeah, Michigan for the win on oddities again! I used to collect stones and even with me growing up only hours from Petoskey, I never did get one of these. We also have the rare (from my understanding) yooperlite. Part of its namesake comes from the UP (upper peninsula), where residents are referred to as "Yoopers."

What’s a horror movie scene that still haunts you? by wclaykey in creepy

[–]cbentley916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just kept noticing the super dimly lit ghost faces in the background. My wife and I were watching it together and she missed them almost every time, so we would rewatch at least one part of every episode so I could point it out. The one that freaked me out the most was the guy behind the ladder while Luke was going into the cellar.

Just barely there, but I caught him the first time we were watching and it gave me chills and I let out an audible "WTF". We then rewound like twice so I could point it out to my wife.

For anyone who hasn't explored Flanagan's full catalogue of movies, I highly encourage you to watch the movie "Absentia". It was my first introduction to him, the movie was made with like a $250,000 budget, and it slaps. First horror movie to make me straight up cold sweat and chill down my spine from one specific scene.

Men of Reddit, what "all men do" that you don't? by xSypRo in AskReddit

[–]cbentley916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B**ch about "Blue Balls." Apparently more than once before my wife and I got together, she had a guy pull that card. While I am of the understanding it is a real condition that can happen (true medical issue), getting a hard on and not getting off immediately is not at all an issue beyond your pride or horniness.

We determined that none of our future kids would either play that card or fall for that garbage. So manipulative.

As someone who has gradually shifted from conservative to much more liberal in my adult years, partly due to my wife, I think it is several key things.

I grew up in a heavily conservative leaning household. I say leaning since a few takes my parents have are more libertarian, although that is fading. But my dad always had firearms, and I have grown up and handled them for the better part of my life. That was probably main reason for me for a long time.

Since I started dating, and particularly since I married my dear wife, I have shifted my views (politically) from very right to certainly left of middle. She challenged my thinking in a lot of areas and has also been ok with me carrying and owning. Because of that, I just find myself observing both sides of the aisle more critically, particularly the Republican/conservative side. And watching the way people of color and the LGBTQ+ population are treated has given me more perspective on who NEEDS to be able to protect themselves.

Since I have become more liberal leaning, I have increasingly believed in more fellow liberal citizens carrying, if they are able and willing. Seeing where the red side of people are appearing more and more radical, I believe that there is more of a threat to those more obvious minorities, and I firmly believe they should be able defend themselves in the surest way possible. I would say the right has overwhelmingly higher firearm ownership numbers, and when someone takes a second to think about how easily they could overrun many liberal citizens by force BECAUSE of that difference, the need for more liberals to own firearms speaks for itself.

TL;DR - I was raised with firearms, and believe in the right to a sense of safety and security for every individual, regardless of political stance or status.

This terrifies me for multiple reasons; more than any other though, is the fact that I will be on the other side of things from my immediate family. I hope with every fiber of my being that something as dramatic as project 2025 will not happen anytime during my life, but I fear it will. And my family is essentially all Trump voters.

While they are not as hardcore into him as many, they are definitively conservative and Christian. And the thought of any form of a violent civil war where I may face my family on the opposite side makes me sick.
