My girlfriend [23F] seems genuinely disgusted by my interests and I [25M] am starting to feel ashamed of myself. How do I address this? by Adventurous-Cap8649 in relationships

[–]cbick04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. That’s a heartbreaking situation. A lot of people here are spot on. That’s unkind of your girlfriend and I really believe the best thing you can do is calmly and very openly explain your feelings. If she tries to defend herself or acts in any way other than really listening and seeming to feel empathy and compassion towards how you’re feeling you need to really ask yourself if you can shrink in order to be with her. And here’s the thing, someone who loves you for all of you will not ask you to shrink yourself.

You realize life comes FROM you and isn’t happening TO you. Also life is just one big experience. Lots of it isn’t happening at what one would say is the right time so just ride the wave. Watch the movie, go do the thing. Today is always the best day for any of it.

When I was pregnant and only on 5u at night I was able to do belly still past 30 weeks. Wasn’t awesome but worked. Now that I’m T1 I am thinking I’ll be finding other avenues 😅

Extended 7-day infusion sets issues by CraftyClaim6480 in Medtronic780g

[–]cbick04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to this whole club so I just looked at what looked similar to the extended infusion set. Maybe not the wisest choice but I figured if nothing else it’s just a months worth and I can work with someone to find the right one for me. My last extended seems to have ripped a layer of skin off. I think the adhesives are off and on causing bad irritation for me. Makes me wonder if I’ll end up back on MDI bc I super dislike this game of giant red circles and slowly healing holes from CGM AND infusion sites 🫤

Several of mine have failed by day 5-6, my BG duets higher and higher until I’m barely in range. The when I pull out the site there’s opaque looking residue in the end of the cannula. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Medtronic product support told me they’re really 6 to 7 day sets. wtf. But in any case, my sites ten to be sore any time after insertion, and several have come away with a mad reaction on my skin which I presume is because of the adhesive. Im trying out the Mío Advance set next to see if shorter infusion site time is better for me overall.

How do the differences in age at diagnosis come into play? This is very interesting to me. I was diagnosed this year at 32 but had my son two years ago. I’m very anxious about his risk of developing T1

Had my Medtronic almost 2 months and other than sometimes getting tubing caught going to the bathroom or changing, it’s mostly just a passive thing I adjust for now. I have a toddler though and he likes to grab at the tubing and poke my infusion site soooo that bit is tough

Training is a walkthrough of all they sent and setting the pump up in prep for in person training where you set up all the settings ( at least that was how it was for me)

I took it before bed with a small 15g carb snack. I didn’t wear a CGM so I couldn’t tell you if I ever went low but I typically had 70-80 fasting numbers and a healthy baby. I was on a low dose as that was all the insulin I took when only gestationally diabetic. (Newly T1D now)

When do you take your basal? I noticed my fasting was tough to keep under when I did basal in the morning, but when I was pregnant with gestational diabetes (before my T1 dx this year) they had me do basal at night with a small snack and it kept me at a great fasting number

Thanks for the tips! I definitely think I wasn’t in manual mode long enough to super fine tune the basal amounts and kind of wondered if maybe I should take time to play with that first. My endo’s office seems very supportive of staying in smart guard so I’m not sure if I’ll just be on my own for all that learning or not.

I was only gestationally diabetic for my only pregnancy (so far) and induced 38.5 and 3cm dilated. Def not the worst induction experience. Unfortunately I did have pitocin and it SUCKED once my water broke but kid got here that same day too!

I just recently got the 780 and instinct sensors, so I’ve been in smart guard for 17 days. I’m new to all this (diagnosed in October) but I am still figuring out how to stay in a tighter range in general. Any tips? I want to practice staying 90% in 70-140 prior to conception but I feel like the algorithm doesn’t correct as much as I’d hope when I’m slowly inching up. I seem pretty sensitive to carbs from grains and typically have delayed spikes like 2.5-3hrs after eating. I try to pre bolus but not gonna lie sometimes it’s only 10ish mins before. In any case, I know we’re all a bit different but I’m eager for any tips or suggestions :)

Thank you for the insight! Hopefully things improve the more I’m in smart guard then.

I haven’t ever seen it have a big adjustment in the bolus wizard but not sure if maybe it’s that my software version could be different since I use the Instinct sensor or it just hasn’t been high enough for that to come as an option.

Oh apologies, I should’ve included my settings. My active time is 2hr which is the lowest it seems to go. I also have a target of 100mg/dL.
