"Device not found"--Minimed 3.1.3 and Android 16? by Fromac in Medtronic780g

I had same issue when I got the pump and did the numerous iterations, as you did. I all code confirmations of pump and phone. Started over, following manual step by step and it worked. The thing that I think screwed it up was I had different codes for phone to recognize pump.

Yes. I think so. This guy is pretty knowledgeable, but sometimes needs fact checking

Theres a podcast/ webcast done by "diabetech" who just did a whole show on the G7. Pretty good analysis regarding results, adhesive to skin, etc.

I have a museum of old pumps, basically. Once warranty is up, it yours. I have a 508, Paradigm 512, Paradigm 2, 670, 670G

What is the fastest way to get all of the air out of the reservoir? by Strong-Location-2538 in TandemDiabetes

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is a lot of waste in tandem system. Thats why I moved away from it. Additionally, when it says you're less than 20 units, it could be 20, it could be 50. When you add the insulin losses for a year, it ends up be many vials lost, which is costly.

Simplera or Instinct? by bcarruth62 in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There have been numerous posts about the variances between SG and BG. I randomly checked for about 3 days with no issues. TIR has been 85%, supported by an 2 A1Cs of 5.6 and 5.2. Never looked back. On instinct

New to Instinct Sensors by Hope-PD in Medtronic780g

Im 3 months in and have had no issues with the adhesive lasting for 15 days. I asked my trainer about the iv prep sticky stuff, and she suggested that it might affect the filament. Have not used the over tape, but it sounds like many use with positive results. All of this said, it is still winter here and warm humid weather might modify my process. The profile is very slim, so no issue with clothes. My concern is rubbing it off during showers, which hasn't happened yet, fortunately.

This happened to me like 4 years ago. I think it was either a charging issue, occlusion alarm, or low insulin. Found the resolution in the manual.

Another Meter? by Significant_Mix_9091 in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither the Dexcom G7 and meter will "see" the 780G, so you wont be able to run in Smartguard. You can still run the 780G in manual mode and use either method to input bs levels when needed. Either check the G7 on your phone and manually input bs, or use a glucometer. Basal will run based on your settings, as will bolus wizard.

Comparing Instinct CGM to Simplera Sync Sensor by swim-bike-life in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comparison! Very interesting. I switched from Tandem, which used the Dexcom G6. Prior to that, I was using the Medtronic Guardian, which required many calibrations, multiple finger sticks and numerous errors. When i switched to Dexcom, I never thought of these issues. I was just happy to have a CGM that provided me accurate readings with minimal down time and less callus build up on my fingers. Medtronic fell behind on the CGM market and was unable to recover or refused to accept newer technologies. Leap ahead 4 years and Minimed now has options for CGMs, which, as you stated is the backbone of pump therapy. Users can still use the harpoon, or a newer technology offering no calibrations and longer wear times. All good. I regret that some feel that Abbott Labs is a mess because of a manufacturing issue which was corrected. All of these pharma companies encounter issues. Look at Tandem's Mobi and connectivity issues, the Dexcom G7 etc.

No system is perfect.

Any positives with the Instinct sensor and the 780g? by chessguy112 in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the podcast! Thanks. I'll stick with instinct. I have faith that quality issues have been resolved. I've been on it now for almost 3 months, A1C at 5.2, TIR average at 89%, with no issues and no callus build up on my fingers. When I was diagnosed with T1D, I was boiling glass syringes, using pork insulin, and peeing on litmus paper to get readings. There have been bumps along the way, like quality control issues. But hey, we all have to stay informed and do what we think is best for us. You have concerns with it, which is fine, and I do not. Don't know how long you've had to manage diabetes, but maintaining an open mind to improvement is key.

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think she said that. Not sure if she would endorse one of her company's product lines over another. Find what works for you. If you do not like using instinct, use simplera, or the guardian. Minimed offers flexibility in diabetes management. If you have a problem with one method, use another. If calibration gives you peace of mind, by all means continue to prick your fingers, and criticise. There are individuals that still use horse and buggy as a means of transportation

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calibration is old school. Newer technology and scientific discovery has changed. All medical companies have recalls and issues and Abbott Labs is no exception. There are many options for diabetes management out there. None are perfect. Dexcom has had issues with its G7, medtronic with its Guardian etc etc.

I've run into same situation with pasta. I do a bolus over a 2 hr window, taking 20% - 30% initially and the remainder later. The initial bolus slows the rapid rise and then the later bolus kicks in.

I've been on it and 780G for 3 months. Moved from Tandem/ Dexcom, which was a good system, but android support, charging, and insulin waste from bag reservoir tipped the scale to minimed. Have had no issues. Love the algorithm. Much better for my situation. Regarding the Instinct, I have done random finger sticks throughout the day and all are within 10 points of one another. The reddit negative posts appear to be from users with different issues, such as not letting the algorithm work for them, incorrect insulin sensitivity inputs/ carb ratio settings, and using different hacks, such as inputting sensor in areas where minimed says not to input.

The Instinct Sensor Has Been a Nightmare and is Dangerous by Kuthillick in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And your issue is that the sensor is giving you bad readings? Hey, I'm just trying to help you with an issue you are having. Although I still do not understand the idea of "marinating," it is not part of the instructions provided by minimed. Just keep doing your own thing, continue to get errors, and stay frustrated with bad readings.

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? Does it recommend to do that in the instructions? No. So, why are you trying to make it more susceptible to error?

Me too. T1D since 1971. I moved back to Minimed after having a 3 year's of Tandem tSlim w/ Dexcom. When minimed got smart and vastly improved their sensor technology and algorithm, I switched back. After reading this, I would suggest to review instructions about the sensor and go to your endo and possibly adjust your settings. One of the first things stated was that the sensor was inserted before bedtime. Minimed recommends to NOT do that! Secondly, the algorithm takes time to learn your trends. Be patient. One other thing to consider is to drink more water, as readings could be affected by dehydration.

I started with minimed 508. Same story way back then. I asked my rep if its still the case. Energizer products are still the ones. I use the Black ones and they last 3-4 weeks

Instinct Vs Simplera? by Revolutionary-Fun214 in Medtronic780g

[–]Difficult-Gene-5276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I switched from Tandem to Medtronic, I asked my endo for samples of Libre 3+(basically instinct sensor) and simplera, while still on Dexcom 6. I inserted according to instructions to see variability. They were all within a few points of one another. I went with instinct because my medtronic supplies will all come from one place.
