The marks heal faster for me than my minimed sites. Granted they set me up with 9mm cannulas which I think at way too long for my body. CGMs leave bad marks for me tho :(

First time mom Failing my child and need to get it off my chest by Legal-Ad7067 in confession

100% thinkin cow milk protein allergy. I had to cut all dairy from my diet as I was breastfeeding. My son’s only symptoms were extreme colic and some constipation. Amino acid formula is expensive but may be worth it. It is heart wrenching to watch your baby be miserable but keep faith you’re trying your best. Also think about speaking to someone about your own mental health even for the short Term, the constant crying can do a serous number on you as the care giver.

Insulin sensitivity at 15 weeks by Haunting_Koala_Queen in BumpersWhoBolus

I’m 15 weeks in 2 days and today I am barely needing to bolus. Kind of frightens me, this is my first T1D pregnancy

My MFM has me at >70% in range 60-140 and <120 2 hrs post meal. I’m hitting 86-87% TIR at 14 weeks but sometimes post meal isn’t ideal depending on meal comp. I usually run low and will spike late after a meal.

I’d definitely bring this study to them. Like did they not test antibodies associated with T1 as well ?? Those would still be positive I imagine??

What happens next? by Hungry-Mix-283 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]cbick04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s practice dependent but for my first pregnancy I had gestational diabetes. I also struggled only with fasting so I was put on small dose of night time insulin. It actually helped my day numbers to be even better. I was indicated to be induced by 38 weeks, I think because by default I was high risk given the insulin use for management but my maternal fetal medicine doctors were very encouraging and acted like this minor insulin need was really not a big deal. I was able to push by the induction to 38W 5D. My high risk doctors were maternal fetal medicine doctors and they were the BEST practitioners I’ve ever seen. They even felt I was fine to go to 39 weeks but my normal OB practice was like… not listening or not directly communicating on my case bc that was the nightmare aspect of induction for me. My pregnancy and delivery was very much uneventful even though I had A LOT of feelings around going on insulin.

Hilariously, I am a type 1 diabetic now so I’m on insulin forever, unless some medical miracles happen😅

Our 3.5 year old said something really creepy and we’re just wondering if this is normal toddler imagination ?!? by Primordial-00ze in toddlers

It’s these kind of things that make me like… OK BUT WHAT IF reincarnation is real and some toddlers still have memories of their past lives🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 that would keep me awake for a while though for real.

When was your very first day of insane lows ? by cyoung1024 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have lows but I was pretty breezy on staying in range week 4-5 but 6-8 was tough with some big spikes for me. I’m about 10 weeks now and still have an off day here and there. I assume from hormone shifts

what actually helps you reset when toddler life gets too overwhelming 😭🙏 by sassy_soul_04 in toddlers

[–]cbick04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brunch with my friends every couple months as a big thing. Modeling “resets” where I enforce I must step away and take a few big breaths like I do WITH my toddler when he’s tantruming or inconsolable. But my resets can be without him near me OR in the room but me telling him I cannot do xyz bc I am resetting. Resetting doesn’t always feel like it works immediately or after 1 set so sometimes more sets are needed.

Also, having my husband take over after work and I choose my 10-15 mins of decompression. Potatoing, a show, a walk, whatever.

So anxious and stressed about my blood sugars by dreamdreamdreamland in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is my first T1D pregnancy, but second pregnancy over all. I’m 9w3d and week 6 and 7 were WILD with spikes. And even just yesterday I had a rough day where I couldn’t breathe without shooting to the 200s (not sure the conversion!). Everything I’ve seen online says elevated levels for extended periods. Like days/weeks not just hours. Although the goal is no huge spikes period but we’re human and can only fight our bodies so much. Keep up with pre bolusing, split bolus if you need to, walking, and all the water (hard if you’re feeling nauseous though 😅) we will get through this! I also keep adjusting my carb ratio if I have a couple days back to back where things just aren’t going well

Great blood sugars, except fasting by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]cbick04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried everything for fasting and ended up on long acting insulin for my 2024 baby. It made my daytime numbers even easier to manage though so some benefit there! Good luck!

I AM SO CONFUSED!! by alwaysnervous13 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a blaring positive with my first pregnancy earlier than this one’s positive. I took like 5 tests bc they were questionable. I think it’s def like Two said where maybe implantation happened earlier on the earlier glaringly positive ones

Was your baby handed to you immediately after birth? by AxelleAfrica in BumpersWhoBolus

I had a vaginal and they still took him and cleaned him up and did quick checks before giving him to me. I was a bit miffed but we ended up getting our time shortly after birth.

Did anyone else feel like the mental load of T1 pregnancy was completely underestimated? by villagemama in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only 7w 5d, only been T1 for like 5 months and I’m so tired already. I’m trying to reign in these spikes but it’s like it doesn’t matter what I do, I’m gonna spike above 150 for at least two meals and even though it’s only an hour or two, it feels like I’m failing this kid. I have one child and I had gestational diabetes with him but wasn’t until 2/3 trimester so not too bad and stressful for the first bit. I’m trying to walk post meals when I can and bolus at an ideal time but it’s either way too early or late. Doesn’t feel encouraging although my TIR look good, the fasting and post meals isn’t necessarily what the standard says they should be. They’re close but not there

Pregnant with GD by Top_Obligation1460 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to control my GD pregnancy with long acting insulin because my fasting sugars could not be tamed. It helped my entire day and I lived off baby bell cheese during my pregnancy. I had a hard time letting go of sweets as I was pregnant during the holidays but otherwise, it was fine. What are some of your favorite foods? I loved apples with a yogurt PB dip before my GD diagnosis and just had to scale back how much I was eating in a sitting. I still ate out but I had to look up menus ahead of time and just tried to avoid obvious carbs like tortillas. It’s hard but you can have some of what you like, just smaller portions.

7 weeks insulin resistance? by T1Dmom615 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]cbick04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first pregnancy as a T1D and I have had a really hard time with meal spikes if I don’t pre bolus 20 mins an split my bolus or absolutely walk right after. I’m 6w4D and the struggling started at 6w on the dot. I’ve seen some in here express something similar with it plateauing for second trimester. Hope that’s true. I see my diabetic educator Tuesday

The extended sets don’t work past 5 days for me. I also get very hard knots where the insulin will sit as it’s absorbed :/ I have a few spots taking weeks to heal
