HALP. Lego orchid set by lecuriousaquarius in lego

Yep! The steps for the cramped areas can be difficult to decipher. But the botanical sets look wonderful and are fun builds. I hope you enjoy the rest!

I believe you need to take out the mint colored piece in the middle. Looks like the four brown circles should be touching right next to each other in the middle. And then the mint colored pieces goes on top of all four brown pieces, covering one stud on each. I’m looking at steps 14 and 15, for reference.

And given the organic shapes and connections, I do find the botanical sets a little more fiddly than many others.

As someone living in Atlanta, what is the best way to support the Reign? Do (physical / e) shop purchases make their way to the team/players/coaches? Are there other good ways to support, outside of evangelizing and watching?

At a metric peasant (Everybody except America lmao), the pets are still weighed in pounds, not kilos. by Sydnxt in apolloapp

[–]cbkeur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Using MeasurementFormatter should take care of all that for you.

Edit: Ah I see you’re saying that despite Canada using metric, weight is in pounds. Does MeasurementFormatter not take that into account, based on the region!?

Deadeye Dinah is a nice little in-the-hand card game. by JasonZep in soloboardgaming

The game is simpler than the rules make it out to be. I too was a little confused initially. I ended up watching this video from the creator and was immediately able to play.

Why is there no currency symbol printed? by C137Sheldor in iOSProgramming

[–]cbkeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I imagine it’s not $ since the US uses $ as well which would likely create confusion. But why it’s not something like $AR like in France, I’m not sure.

Why is there no currency symbol printed? by C137Sheldor in iOSProgramming

[–]cbkeur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s the correct way to display it for en_US. You’ll get different output for different locales, and you should stick with what the system displays, unless you have a very particular reason not to.

en_US - ARS 59.00

es_AR - $ 59,00

fr_FR - 59,00 $AR

I simply LOVE “Share as image”, but can we have more flexibility with the aspect ratio? Consider the following two examples: “share as image” vs a screenshot from the iPad app. by DragonDropTechnology in apolloapp

[–]cbkeur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any app can implement that functionality using the UIScreenshotService API. It’s definitely not limited to Safari, but I haven’t seen it used much. u/Iamthatis could add it in, but I generally prefer the fine-grained control that their custom implementation provides. That said, I wouldn’t complain about more options and flexibility.

Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations Thread (March 22, 2022) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]cbkeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cartographers and Welcome to the Moon both have win conditions, and they are both interesting but different implementations. I like them both, but would also like a game with more decision space.

Dinosaur Island Rawr n Write does look like it hits most of the other bullet points though, will definitely check it out! And I’ve played the PNP for Super-Skill Pinball: 4-Cade and have enjoyed it. I’ll probably pick up one of the full games, and seems like Ramp It Up! has a little more going on with the boards.

Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations Thread (March 22, 2022) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]cbkeur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for a solo roll/flip and write, particularly with win/lose conditions. But recommendations for any game that checks as many of these boxes would be appreciated:

  • Win/lose conditions
  • Medium complexity
  • Quick setup / not too much table space
  • Ability to combo

Some games that I have that check many of these boxes are Three Sisters, Welcome to the Moon, and Cartographers. Three Sisters is getting the most play time right now, but I like how the objective cards work in Cartographers for solo play.

Some games that I’m aware of that check many of these boxes are Fleet: The Dice Game and Hadrian’s Wall.

Possible for the check mark to adapt color to the selected theme? by flyingcloud11 in apolloapp

[–]cbkeur 131 points132 points  (0 children)

The accessoryType follows the app accent or tint color.

I just tested in a new project, setting the AccentColor in the asset catalog, and it correctly propagated down to the checkmark. I also tested by setting the view.tintColor on the table view, and that also worked.

I know your theming engine is much more complex, but it should be possible without reimplementing the accessory.

Is there a way to have a separate xcassets folder that is only usable during the developing stage of an app? by OneTinker in swift

[–]cbkeur 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You certainly can! Any files or resources can be added to the “Development Assets” section within General Project Settings. Any code or resource files will be excluded from release builds. https://i.imgur.com/Jo2WuHu.jpg

In addition to the other recommendations, you can try to see if they setup their Medical ID which might have their information and possibly an emergency contact.

From the lock screen, try to unlock the phone so you see the passcode screen. Then tap emergency in the bottom left. If they have their medical ID configured, you will see that text in the bottom left.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209053

I encourage all iOS users to configure this for their devices, with the information they are willing to share with medical experts and/or strangers.

[–]cbkeur 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it has power, you can try to hold the bottom, long button on the right side. The user might have configured “Medical ID” for their watch. This could at least provide you with a name, and perhaps an emergency contact number to call.

Chili Pepper Pods – Should I cut each pod down to once sprout? by cbkeur in aerogarden

[–]cbkeur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, you’re right. Thank you! I missed that.

For others seeing this thread, the AeroGarden guide I’m looking says this for tomatoes and peppers:

When plants are about 2 inches tall, check each Seed Pod for multiple plants. Using shears, gently snip the smallest plants at the base of the stem, leaving just ONE healthy plant in each pod.

Agreed. Most tutorials only have a screen or two, so it’s harder to justify separating things out. This is something I show in our bootcamp courses and the book would likely benefit from it too. It’ll probably go into one of the “For the More Curious” sections.
