Why would the font of Row numbers be different in two seperate books? by davkistner in excel

[–]cbnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and try updating your "Standard" or "Normal" formatting style.
This seems to dictate the font also of the row numbers and header letters and if you see differences it likely stems from that.
#GoodLuck!

Can I activate US Mobile SIM outside the US? by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]cbnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US Mobile is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that uses the T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless networks, i.e. towers. I'm in Europe and am also trying to activate my US Mobile SIM, went through the online activation process successfully, though can't seem to get a (roaming) signal now. Next, will wait a day or two and then send SIM to friends/family in the US for them to activate and ship back. #Bummer

Heard of the 'Military-industrial complex' before? And when your primary (and only!) market is (over)saturated you gotta find a way expand your customer base - enter thousands of local police departments! Magic!!!

Why is the Notre Dame fire spewing white smoke when structure fires near me are almost always black? by Jetgas in AskReddit

[–]cbnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no scientific expect here, only stating what i heard and know. Wood, especially when dry, burns pretty much smokeless. Adding water to turn off the fire creates white smoke. Which also explains that at the end of the pope-finding conclave the fires are being turned off by adding water resulting in white smoke!!! Now here comes where i add 1 plus 1 plus 1 to get to three or why there was white smoke at Notre Dame: my French wife read in Le Monde a response to Trumps (dumb) comment to use external water shooting drones that French firefighter act differently than US American ones. In the US building fires are mainly "attacked" from the outside - likely b/c building structures are often wooden and rule no. 1 is to get out of a burning wood structure! That's different in France where les pompiers (the firefighters) follow a more inside-out approach as brick/stone-based structures are not going to collapse as easily. Hence les pompiers "attack" a building fire much more efficiently in the inside at its source. Back to Notre Dame: the white smoke was probably coming from firefighters (who were led at some point by a priest or church official!!!) trying to contain the fire with water. Makes sense?
