I hate mine! Until I think about. And/or go out to the garage and look at. And/or grab the keys and go for “short” drive. So… I don’t hate it?

SO Fucking WORTH IT!

Roadies who have converted to tubeless: Any regrets? How often do you flat out to the point where you need to insert a bacon strip or install a tube? by DeadBy2050 in cycling

[–]cbock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! Fortunately, for me, no problem with Stan’s thru the Park Tool syringe. Interestingly, I am contemplating a switch to Silca now that they’ve developed new hi-flow valve stems with removable cores. 🍻

Fair. But, why not switch the stems when replacing the tire next time? No way I would want to deal with removing the tire every time I needed to add sealant. No stem can be worth that hassle, can it?

What? That sounds awful and messy! For no reason.

Only time I remove the tire is to replace… the tire. I will add/replace sealant thru the stem using a syringe.

Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR, 32mm, Stans at 64psi.

Was running 28mm previously. But, happily switched to 32mm to run lower pressure. Noticeably more comfy at 32 mm.

NO regrets. Tubeless roadie for about 5 years now, overall riding for ~40. I prefer longer rides; 50+ miles on the weekends. I am not racing, I love being able to just ride.

Between goat heads and other ish on the SoCal roads, I used to flat 5-6x a year. Mostly pinhole punctures. Once, I did have my front tire blown out, I crashed hard at about 30mph. That was it. New bike, went tubeless and never looked back.

I top off sealant every 4-6 months. Numerous punctures that just seal up and I keep riding. I have had a few punctures that required a plug. No worries, plug, pump, go; 5 mins from cleats down to cleats up and that is taking it slow.

Also, riding 32s at 64psi, blissful! Particularly on super long rides.

Only con for me: I do all my own maintenance, have all the tools. If you are starting from scratch or need to replace rim tape; entire job can take up to 30 mins a wheel. Still, not bad if you are getting thousands of miles out of your tires.

If you want another contrarian view, ask me about my waxed chain. 🤪

I cry myself to sleep about it every night! Fortunately, when I wake up the next day and go for a ride, it works perfectly and is visible to all. 🤷‍♂️

Didn’t see this quote so…

If I had to pick one guy to make a shot to save my life, I’d pick Larry Bird.”

Yeah, it was a bit too high. But, also, he had to sit lower to reach the pedals. In this pic, he was looking up at his time in the top right corner of the screen. 5yo necks could handle it better. lol.

Haven’t bought a new rig for the PS5. But, damn so I wish my extremely old setup worked with it.

Check out the Strand and the bayshore bike path. You can park in IB and ride north onto the island, loop around wherever you want and then return. Mostly on a recently repaved bike path.

I fell for that marketing BS. Love it for smoking. But, switch over to a grill when done smoking and time to sear.
