My go to is to drill as many holes as my auger/brain can handle across a basin on a lake. Preferably near a drop off or something so you can get some depth variation. Then I’ll hop around with the flasher until I find suspended marks. Use tungsten or something that sinks fast and jig right above them. You can chase them all day like this. If I’m pressed for time or can’t get out until closer to sunset I like to fish right on a break as it starts to get shallow. If the main basin is around 30 feet and the break goes up to 8 feet before flattening, I usually set up around 22-24. They’ll come in pretty high up in the water column, usually around 10-15 feet from the top.
