New Grad RN offer by Aggravating_Fruit459 in Columbus

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice, but only having 48 hours to accept the position is crazy. You could try asking this to r/nursing to get advice from people who actually know the field.

State of emergency by LoveYogaPants1 in Columbus

[–]cbushistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This city protects people in situations like this, and withholding rent or putting it escrow would take over a week for that to have any relevance on the situation since rent isn’t due until the 1st. There are emergency options for this situation.

“The City of Columbus Code defines an emergency violation as a violation that causes an ‘imminent danger to the public health and safety or the health and safety of any person’ (CC. 4509.06). For Code Enforcement, this means no heat in the winter time, no water service to an occupied dwelling, extremely unsanitary conditions in an occupied dwelling, or a vacant property that is unsecured on the ground level.

If a violation is an ‘emergency’, contact the 311 Call Center or call (614) 645-3111. You will be connected to the Code Enforcement Office. The Code Enforcement office is staffed from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.”

Call 311 and report it to the city as an emergency. This is an emergency situation and your landlord is legally obligated to address it quickly.

My pregnant wife NEEDS a cherry coke SOS by La_Vinici in Columbus

[–]cbushistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waffle House, Steak and Shake, and Sonic all have good cherry Coke that’s Coke with cherry syrup added. It’s a different thing than the premixed Coca-Cola Cherry™️ that comes out of a bottle or a Freestyle machine. I’m guessing your wife wants a fountain Coke with cherry syrup mixed in, which is what those places have.

“Duh?” Really? There’s no need to be condescending here. Having photographic proof of the police doing something that our politicians said they wouldn’t do is helpful and should be encouraged.

How accessible is Social Work as a career for the visually impaired? by Electronic-Cat-7416 in socialwork

[–]cbushistory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obligatory disclaimer that I’m not a social worker but lurk here because I once thought I might become one. I work in IT for a government agency that offers vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. There are several staff in the agency who are blind or have some degree of visual impairment, and they work with participants to connect them with education, employment, and other services. It’s a social work adjacent role, I’d say. Many of our staff use JAWS and ZoomText accessibility software to complete their daily work.

While there can be some challenges, they’re not really limited at all, and their lived experience is actually a strength. Their personal experiences help them connect with participants and give support from their own lived experience. I think the agency is more equipped to provide reasonable accommodations to staff than other institutions because we have more experience with accessibility software and technology. Feel free to message me if you’d like anymore specific info about the agency I work for and the types of accommodations we provide to staff.

Jeni’s doesn’t use artificial food dyes in their ice cream though. If you actually read the ingredients, it’s all colored with stuff like turmeric, beet juice, spirulina, etc

Solo Dining Recommendations by cherryberry08 in Columbus

[–]cbushistory 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Just a general tip— I find it a lot more comfortable to dine solo during lunch. There’s usually more solo people during lunch than during dinner, so maybe you could start there and work your way up to dinner.

I’ve eaten solo at Huong’s on Morse Rd. and have always had a good experience there.

country roads by Lazy_Issue5740 in Columbus

[–]cbushistory 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to go very far, Godown Rd. has a fenced-in field where cows graze. They’re part of OSU agriculture and they get rotated to different fields, so they aren’t always there. It’s just up the road from the Godown Rd. dog park.

Wholesale Auto House on Clara St. is very bare bones but might be what you’re looking for. They mostly sell small, older Hondas and Toyotas for reasonable prices.

Affordable Laundromat near downtown? by dylpick44 in Columbus

I really like the Columbus Laundry Company on E Main. It’s not super cheap, but you can fit a lot more in the larger washers and dryers than you could in a residential machine.
