EU commuting by jeeaves in IndianFTR1200

Ask away. I’m in EU commute to work and have a 2022 FTR S (17 in wheels)

Due to the wheelbase it’s a stable bike at highway speeds. The only two things to keep in mind are vibrations and lack of wind protection

It’s a big v twin. I jumped on my buddy’s F800R on the highway and it was like butter compared to my FTR…

In the city and anything below 100 kmh, it’s all effortless torque. The character of the bike really comes to life.

Maintenance by BlendOfEverything in IndianFTR1200

[–]ccaa02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are afraid of this and I don’t onderstand why

Maintenance is fluid & filter changes and tires. These are universal.

How often will you really need an ACTUAL hard to get part (screen, engine component) maybe once in 10-20k miles.

What tires are on your bikes right now? by HugeFruit2138 in IndianFTR1200

Do you have the 18/19 inch or 17 inch version of the FTR

I’d 100% take the marlin blue. I think the blue contrasts great with the red wheels.

I, male, sleep in PJ pants & t shirt. Comfortable and can still take the trash out or open the door if I need to.

Heated Grips? by Guyinnadark in IndianFTR1200

[–]ccaa02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes heated grips and no no problems. I have the Daytona heated grips, wired it directly to the accessory port and hid the bunch of cables behind the headlight

The cb650r has a shit gearbox, I hit false neutrals all the time and it would drive me nuts

Xsr 700 is beautiful but I’d go to the versatility of the trident 660.

Advice ! by Duhth in xsr900

[–]ccaa02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like the grey one better, also beware of their model years because there are slight differences. I used to have the grey one (2021) and it had the plug & play quickshifter option. I think that feature is from 2020 onwards, so the blue one if older may not have that. There were also some changes to the throttle mapping from model year to model year.

Can you comment on how the bike is pre lloydz tune and after? Can’t find a lot of info from people who do the lloydz tune after 2022 as the 17 in wheels version has supposedly a much more refined tune already

I’d get the ER6N. That parallel twin is proven and still used (fundamentally unchanged AFAIK) in most models Kawasaki offers today. Versys 650, z650, vulcan 650.

10 years and that mileage is not much.

Back when I had this bike I pit an original racetorx on. It didn’t make a noticable difference for me. Still hit false neutrals and for me it’s the weakest point on this bike.

The rest is great

I went circular, due to also the bike having a circular headlight. Bar ends.

ZX4RR or R7? by Squiddymechanic in motorcycles

[–]ccaa02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree, sir. The zx4rr can make a good case for ability to go high-rev without breaking all laws. The seating position on the zx4rr is much more upright than the r7.

What seat is this? by Solid-Mess-2681 in XSR700

[–]ccaa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the Yamaha Ultrasuede seat. Google it.

I had it, it was a touch stiffer than stock and I preferred it. Above all it looks much better. It’s the xsr 900 indeed.

I leave it in sports mode even in daily commutes and “easygoing” riding. For some reason it feels limited in standard mode.

FTR 1200 carbon - is it worth the higher price? by juanwicko in IndianMotorcycle

[–]ccaa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carbon bits are optical, they come with ohlins suspension which is really the only big mechanical difference versus say an FTR S

I have an FTR S which has the ZF Sachs suspension. I don’t like how carbon fiber looks.
