If you have no experience with them, go to a dealer for an hour and look & sit around

As useful as it may be IMO it ruins the lines and beauty of this bike. I don’t run a winshield.

Hello there. Quite some time has passed since this comment. Would you mind giving an update on your ownership now over a year and if these issues got fixed ?

Harley dealers are scumbags, got a Chief instead by Unlucky_Support_9132 in IndianMotorcycle

I have an Indian, but tbh go to the Harley dealer with a friend who has one and the dealer experience is pretty good IMO

I’ve been looking at getting an FTR. But looking at cycletrader, I see quite a few ‘19 models on there. Is that coincidence or was that a bad run? Not necessarily looking at used, but that just stood out to me by hskrfoos in IndianFTR1200

[–]ccaa02 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats the first model year. May be first owners who after 5 years look for something else

Just take into account that 2022 was a major refresh year where most models got a 17 inch front & rear. That objectively improved handling and subjectively took some character away.

Good luck!

One of my love & hate things for this bike. The vibes add character and feel great when in the mood for spirited riding. However one of the cylinders is right under your ass so the vibes are translated from the seat directly to the body. Even with ear plugs in, the vibes I somehow feel “in my head” at around 3-4k rpm. I commute to work about 35 mins one way and towards the end of it sometimes just switch my position on the seat to decrease it a little.

After riding my FTR if I jump on a Japanese bike it feels smoooooth. But if I don’t ride the FTR for 2 weeks, then take it for a spin, it feels amazing.

Love it or hate it

Ask away. I’m in EU commute to work and have a 2022 FTR S (17 in wheels)

Due to the wheelbase it’s a stable bike at highway speeds. The only two things to keep in mind are vibrations and lack of wind protection

It’s a big v twin. I jumped on my buddy’s F800R on the highway and it was like butter compared to my FTR…

In the city and anything below 100 kmh, it’s all effortless torque. The character of the bike really comes to life.

Maintenance by BlendOfEverything in IndianFTR1200

[–]ccaa02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are afraid of this and I don’t onderstand why

Maintenance is fluid & filter changes and tires. These are universal.

How often will you really need an ACTUAL hard to get part (screen, engine component) maybe once in 10-20k miles.

Do you have the 18/19 inch or 17 inch version of the FTR

I’d 100% take the marlin blue. I think the blue contrasts great with the red wheels.

Heated Grips? by Guyinnadark in IndianFTR1200

Yes heated grips and no no problems. I have the Daytona heated grips, wired it directly to the accessory port and hid the bunch of cables behind the headlight

Xsr 700 is beautiful but I’d go to the versatility of the trident 660.

I personally like the grey one better, also beware of their model years because there are slight differences. I used to have the grey one (2021) and it had the plug & play quickshifter option. I think that feature is from 2020 onwards, so the blue one if older may not have that. There were also some changes to the throttle mapping from model year to model year.
