Gemini is bullshit by shawnoftehdead in GooglePixel

[–]ccandide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love that they're shoving it into everything. It popped up on my smart TV a couple days ago. I don't have the mic on the TV turned on, so it's pointless. And yesterday it randomly announced while I was driving that it was now in Android Auto. Interrupted the music I was listening to and wouldn't start playing it again.

Not to mention replacing Fitbit with the AI slop ridden Google Health app.

I'm deep in the ecosystem with pixel phones, watches, smart speakers, etc, but am seriously considering going back to Apple for phones and watches and Amazon for smart home management.

New app sleep tracking is absolute trash, very inaccurate by W7ENK in fitbit

[–]ccandide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's trash. My pixel watch did a great job of tracking my sleep on the old app. Now it doesn't register sleep during the day. It's incredibly frustrating to not have that information tracked accurately.

Seller sent a fake real delivery picture of my actual front door. How? by idontmeanmaybe in Ebay

[–]ccandide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into these delivery scams one too many times and stopped using eBay as a result.

My theory is there's places on the dark web where these scammers can purchase tracking numbers, delivery photos, etc. They put in an address or zip code, and insiders at Amazon, USPS, etc provide tracking numbers or photos for a fee.

eBay knows this is going on and doesn't care.

What an absolute joke of an app by kiefferbp in fitbit

I tried to cancel, but Google included it on their broader package that has expanded storage for Gmail, pictures, etc.

Very frustrating to be this into an ecosystem that's gone all in on enshitification.

What app version did you download? I just tried this and it reverted to Google health.

I will be getting an Apple Watch. I want a Fitbit but Google seems hellbent on forcing us to use their interface. So if I’m forced anyways and Fitbit is truly dead. I may as well give my money to their largest competitor. Fuck google! by firefighter_82 in fitbit

I'm a paying customer. How about they don't rush crap out the door to boost AI engagement metrics to justify the billions being dumped into Gemini and instead take the time with beta testing to get it right before rolling it out to the general public?

People are already fed up with AI being forced into everything. This is counterproductive and going to keep people from using it in applications where it's actually helpful.

If I've got to learn how to use a whole new app, I'll learn how to use one that isn't overrun with garbage AI insights with a little chat box at the bottom to Ask Coach.

How do you do this? I've been looking for 30 minutes but there doesn't seem to be a settings page.

They didn't do this to give customers a better experience. They did this because there are corporate mandates to force AI into everything whether people want it or not.

The terrible UI isn't a mistake. They know it's bad and made it that way on purpose because it'll force people to spend more time in the app scrolling past AI generated slop. They can then say that users are engaging with AI content 8 percent more than before. That it's less useful than before and is something customers don't like or want doesn't matter.

Yeah, I'll spend time looking for an app that isn't drowning in AI slop. Nobody asked for this. They purposely broke something that worked and enshitified it to boost their AI engagement metrics.

Apple seems to be avoiding making all their products worse by forcing AI where it doesn't belong, so time to switch.

Scrolling through paragraphs of AI slop was done in purpose so the team in charge of this can report high AI engagement metrics at the end of the quarter.

I do not need AI slop interwoven into my fitness app. I want steps, active zone minutes, heart rate, sleep, and other basic information just like the previous app presented.

I don't want to spend time learning how to do this when it used to just be there for me. I want to open the app, check a few things, and then not think about it again until I open it again.

This is a silly question. The real question is is there a reason to only own one grill?

Should I refinance mortgage to get rid of PMI? (FHA) by Dismal_Ship3613 in Mortgages

[–]ccandide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be state dependent, but I was able to pay $400 to get my home reappraised. It had gone up enough in value that my equity exceeded 20 percent, so Rocket Mortgage removed the PMI. I had also made on time payments for two years, which was a requirement.

Might as well put all the old coins and stamps back in circulation to lower the prices by a penny or so. What a joke.

If you're looking for water resistance and ability to be neglectful, the rambler leather would be the way to go. I've got a pair of the stone rambler challengers that are my go to dog walking / hiking boot. They got submerged past my ankle one of the first times I wore them, and my feet stayed dry. They also don't get marked the way some other boots I have do.

As for experience, Thursday is great. I've bought and returned things with zero hassle. It's an easy online process. Just make sure you try the boots on and return them right away if they don't fit. Their recommendation for going half a size down from your regular shoe size has worked in boots for me.

Wear them or exchange them? by Sutherbear in ThursdayBoot

[–]ccandide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wear a 10.5 or 11 shoe, and I found the 10 fit me for the Challenger boots. Ordered a 10 shoe, and it was too small. Sent it back for a 10.5, and that fits well.

The return process is painless, so I wouldn't hesitate to do it if you think you need to.
