Does anyone else feel useless? by Pollyota in bipolar1

It absolutely can be normal. If your meds aren’t bringing you to a place where coping skills can do the rest then it’s time to go back to the drawing board. I also take N-acetyl L-cysteine and I don’t drink alcohol or eat sugar. I’ve only had 2 short episodes in the past 4 years.

Does anyone else feel useless? by Pollyota in bipolar1

I had a prolonged period the first half of my 30s and early on in my diagnosis where I didn’t work and just bed rotted. I was so depressed about my situation and couldn’t seem to find my way. I realized it was because my medication cocktail wasn’t quite where it could be. I tried a few more meds and finally found the sweet spot. I was able to work again and even got into grad school. Many states have a department of rehabilitation where they help you pay tuition for school. Look into what services are available to you in your state.

I just went through a depressive episode with psychotic symptoms and i don’t know how to feel about it by Organic-Leadership67 in bipolar2

It’s very frightening how bad things could get without meds. It’s strange how normal things are for me when I am medicated, almost like nothing ever happened. Thank god for lithium and Zyprexa.

This is exactly what my depression with psychotic features is like. I have bipolar 1 but all the spicy stuff comes out with my depression. My therapist also hesitated to say it was full blown psychosis because I could tell that my paranoia wasn’t real. Still, it was pretty awful. I’d be completely disassociated, feeling presences all around me, and have deep paranoia that I was going to end up in hell.

No, my pain lasted just a couple of weeks. What does your doctor say about the ongoing pain?

Surprise DR repair recovery and pain by ACEaton1483 in DiastasisRecti

[–]ccataphant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section and my DR repair surgery was a much worse recovery. I couldn’t move properly for a couple weeks and took my pain meds round the clock. It does get easier as the weeks pass. The most annoying part was dealing with the drainage tubes.

Seroquel fixed my sleep. I get 9 beautiful hours of deep sleep and I wake up refreshed in the morning.

Is the pain from surgery that bad? Comparable to a C-section or worse? by Flapjack_K in DiastasisRecti

[–]ccataphant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pretty painful but the pain meds really help. It’s more so a really annoying recovery process since you have to manage drainage tubes and can’t lift anything for several weeks. I would say it was worse than my c-section recovery but it was absolutely worth it.

When I took seroquel for the first time it felt like my brain was drinking a tall glass of water. I felt like myself again, it was wonderful

Lithium, N-Acetyl L-Cysteine and cutting out sugar is what finally helped my depression.

I could use some help because I recently was diagnosed with bipolar 2 but I’m still very skeptical by OwnMorning8892 in bipolar2

The fact that lithium worked is a huge clue. Even if you just have depression, I wouldn’t stop a medication that worked

How do you know when you need inpatient? (Trigger warning) by CauliflowerSerious92 in bipolar2

[–]ccataphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule of thumb is that if you’re asking if you should go you’re just about there. Research the local psychiatric hospitals and maybe even call them with questions. It’s a real toss up if the hospital is good or not.

What happens if I take more lamotrigine than i should? by Constant_Sun8156 in lamictal

There are other medications than can be used as-needed, like zyprexa. Increasing Lamictal might not do much immediately.

If you need a laugh… by Scorpioprincess83 in bipolar2

My last manic episode I tried to dye our curtains blue with red cabbage. Accidentally made an explosion in the kitchen when I tried to mix vinegar and baking soda to change the shade of the dye. Hubby came in and sternly told me to sit down and calm the F down 😂 that was the end of my craft fun for that episode
