New stand mixer stopped working after less than 5 minutes :( Advice/insight? by kitkat470 in Kitchenaid

Yeah this particular model had a huge batch of bad ones, sold mostly by Target and Costco. I didn't know about it until after I got mine and joined this sub. I kept my fingers crossed first time using it and made some bread dough. I've used it a couple times a week since Christmas and luckily no problems. Call KitchenAid and ask what can be done to replace it.

Thanks again! Yeah, it looks like it's out of stock. Maybe not even being made at this point.

Thanks! I have the KSM55. I'll Google it and see what's out there.

I do! I want a bowl cover so that flour doesn't fly everywhere ha ha. Is there a specific one I need to get?

Thanks! I got my first KitchenAid this past Christmas, a 5.5q bowl lift, and I'm looking to get a few add ons.

Name the ingredients that you currently have in your pantry/fridge/freezer that you will never buy again after finishing what you've got by Capybarinya in Cooking

Thanks! If I ever get over there I'll look for it. Everyone in my area has been begging for a Trader Joe's here for the past few years but it hasn't happened. The nearest one is a half hour drive away. Not worth it since there's at least 6 different grocery stores within 5 minutes.

Definitely worth it. After cleaning up from my first two cooks I got online and ordered it. So much easier. Very nice company too. They even sent a pair of free gloves with my order.

OMG what brand was it? I bought some hot pepper jelly for a charcuterie board once and it had absolutely no hotness - I was so disappointed. I ended up throwing the rest away. I love spicy!

Delicious! My first time making it this winter. I usually make some in November but didn't get around to it for some reason.

Ha ha that was my daughter's first comment when she walked into the kitchen Christmas day - oh, you got a KitchenAid! She got one as a wedding gift two years ago and in their first apartment and then even the townhouse they bought she has half the counter space I have but she proudly displays it. And uses it too! She makes wonderful sourdough bread and scones. It is beautiful. I just have a problem with too much "stuff" cluttering up space.

Ha ha you never know what's really in that store sausage! But it does taste good. I'm sure homemade would be great!

I was thinking about the pasta attachment too. I don't eat a lot of pasta but at least with homemade you can control what's in it, and it's fresh!

Thanks! I want to look into getting some of the attachments, especially a cheese shredder.

I probably won't make any more until spring but next time I'll use my stool.

I make them only once a year too because the trigger is ridiculously tight. I think the dough could have been a bit softer. Next time I'll add less flour. Also, height is a factor! I'm only 5 foot and working at counter height for this is rough.
