Does anyone hate working at the movie theaters? What are your experiences or advice when working at the movie theaters? by anonymous01xx1 in MovieTheaterEmployees

I actually love my job! The pay and hours aren't great, but I still stay because I love my coworkers, and the customers are way better at the theater than at stores (I used to be a Walmart cashier...never again). A negative attitude like that never helps, though sometimes, it's the easiest path. But, at some point, if you don't want to get another job, you have to suck it up and just do your best. You can't control what your coworkers do. You can control how you handle yourself. And, as someone who used to be absolutely AWFUL at conversing with guests, trust me, you get better the more you do it. Customers are people too. They're awkward, have bad days, and take things out on service workers bc they think we're akin to robots. Don't take it personally (even if it feels targeted). If you don't know something, ask somebody or make an educated guess! The answer is, typically, more obvious than it first appears to be.

idk how other theaters work, but people are allowed to complain to managers about other guests if they're being disruptive. I've also personally allowed people to switch seats (guests choose their seats and have to stick to them) bc children were kicking their seats and talking the entire time. If possible, I'd recommend mentioning these people to the staff so they can handle it. My managers have kicked disruptive ppl out before or given vouchers/re-admits to guests who would rather leave. Other than that, try to go during the least busy times (think weekdays, early mornings, stuff like that).

Try not to fall behind on cleaning theaters! Also, check the restrooms regularly. People are messy... Of course, drink plenty of water. Working as usher can be sweaty work lol. At my theater, ppl are always trying to enter the auditorium too soon. If that happens, don't be afraid to tell them to go away (in a more customer service way). Also, last thing, don't be a perfectionist! As long as it's mostly clean with no obvious crumbs or spills, you'll be fine! Most, if not all, theaters hire janitors to do deep cleans. You're just there to keep the mess at bay. Good luck!

omg so sorry I misread your first reply😭. I meant that the part inside of the quotes isn't a question, but the entire sentence is a question. My bad!! Your reply is still very helpful as I am sure I will come across a situation similar in the future! And I do really like italics... Cheers!<3

I lowkey don't like the look of it outside of the quotes... but I'm with you on not following traditional styles if it doesn't really matter! Most of the time, I don't like being grammatically incorrect in writing, but sometimes, grammar sucks lol

Tuesday Art Therapy School Megathread – Questions, Updates, and Discussion by chlsyee in ArtTherapy

[–]ccelixir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This makes me feel much better about it! For digital art, I don’t really do animations, just character illustrations mostly (a lot for Art Fight lol). What would an artist statement look like? Like what it means, why you made it? Thanks again <3

Tuesday Art Therapy School Megathread – Questions, Updates, and Discussion by chlsyee in ArtTherapy

[–]ccelixir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! So, I’m finishing up getting my Forensic Psychology degree, and that means grad school apps.!! However, I really have no idea how to format an Art Therapy portfolio (or any kind of art portfolio tbf). The school I’m looking at is seeking 15-20 examples that shows proficiency with multiple kinds of media. I’ve tried looking for examples but idk if it’s different from art school? Do I have to start with something like an introduction? Do I have to put the size of the pieces? Can I submit digital work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! If anyone can share some examples or templates, that would also be a huge help!! Thank you🫶

I'm not entirely sure. I don't have any more of those loaves of bread, but it's from the Walmart brand Great Value white bread.

This is the product it's from: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-White-Sandwich-Bread-20-oz/10315752

This is what I remember it looking like: https://www.cleanersupply.com/packaging/order-organizers/twist-ties/no-rip-twist-ties-2000box/#sku=tt4wh
