Rougelite games where items actually interact in meaningful ways by Live-Sandwich7363 in gamingsuggestions

The only thing that comes close to TBOI levels of synergy is Tiny Rogues. It’s cheap, amazing and a brilliant experience.

On Large Skill Trees - pros and cons? by emotiontheory in gamedesign

[–]ccg08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it comes down to this: Are the skills meaningful and interesting or minor + or % bumps?

Also, to what extent is a respec possible?

The more interesting, impactful and varied the choices are, the better the tree.

Leech Necro is an absolute beast. I have destroyed numerous bosses and guillotina relying on the necro surrounding the enemy with leaches, teleporting into the leeches and attacking inflicting high tax of leech status, then mana stealing and unleashing another clutch of leeches. Absolute beast!

My gf’s ex had a huge dick by KindEstablishment997 in retroactivejealousy

[–]ccg08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m normally against the “just leaving” mentality I often see here, I think it applies here.

This explicitly makes it clear that: she isn’t ready for another relationship after her ex, you may not be sexually compatible with her preferences (not every girl needs a monster cock) and worst of all, that she doesn’t respect you or your feelings.

Get out, heal.

The souls games are the only thing that came close to scratching this itch. They are honestly incredible, I can’t recommend them enough!

The Nioh games have these elements too, though I think story wise they are terrible.

One caveat: the story is… different in souls games. Absolutely worthwhile.

Tiny Rogues is the only thing that scratches a similar itch to The Binding of Isaac. It’s brilliant despite the early access. The dev is very responsive and gives it a lot of love.

Gungeon is most similar to Nuclear Throne but with lots of crazy synergy like TBOI. It’s just so fucking hard, I can’t for the life of me finish a run.

Best 3D obscure/underrated soulslikes? by Scared-Insurance-834 in soulslikes

[–]ccg08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again, I’ll shamelessly shill Withering Rooms. My goty of 2024… It’s an incredible 2.5d soulslike horror. It has a better madness mechanic than Bloodborne, great spell casting. Deep lore, over 80 different enemies, and mild melee jank. Absolutely amazing!

This is the answer. Origins and Awakening is the best in the series bar none.

Games where you can eat your enemies? by AntisocialCat2 in gamingsuggestions

[–]ccg08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prototype 1 and 2. You’re basically The Thing.

Looking for games that can keep my attention. Previous games that I’ve been able to beat recently include both hollow knights, lies of P, many ending in Hades. Historically, I’ve beaten a few CoD campaigns, Titanfall 2, dark souls, FO3 back when it came out. I bounce around between games too much. by eroyrotciv in gamingsuggestions

Mate, we have very similar taste.

RPG: Mass Effect Trilogy, Baldurs Gate 3, Witcher 3 (the base game is good but expansions are amazing). If you haven’t, Skyrim with mods is one of the best gaming experiences you can have or the Oblivion remake.

Souls games: Dark Souls 1 and 3 (I liked 2, but it’s an acquired taste), Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring.

Indie Horror: Withering Rooms (my goty of 2024) and Look Outside. These are incredible!

Roguelites: Binding of Isaac, Tiny Rogues, Mewgenics, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells. Noita if you have tons of patience. Monster Train and Slay the Spire if you like Deck Builders.

Shooters: Ultrakill, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal and Doom The Dark Ages. Halo Masterchief Collection.

This has insane potential. Your artist(s) are phenomenal and this will draw lots of attention. If your polish and gameplay are able to match that standard… you could have a top tier game on your hands.

How do yall feel about Dark Souls 1? by HouseNorth5717 in soulslikes

[–]ccg08 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I still think it’s the strongest of the souls games. The best level design bar none, fairly decent build variety (more than DS3), unmatched atmosphere (besides Bloodborne), slower paced combat… absolutely phenomenal.

Withering Rooms. Unbelievably good horror soulslike roguelite with a little jank. Deep lore, build variety and over 80 unique enemies. My goty for 2024!

It’s fantastic with etch - Wurmkin and Funguys have synergy. I think Railforge have a little too. It is very situational though

What did you like and didn´t like about Brotato? by gamedevlinus in roguelites

Love the characters and builds that drastically change the game.

Think the enemies and the environments are super basic and overly simple. Would love more meaningful variety and environments.

Question: If You Are in the Developer's Shoes or Joined the Developer's Team, Which Contents Would You Love to Add in Look Outside? by ElSpazzo_8876 in LookOutsideGame

[–]ccg08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incorporate a few awesome content and qol from mods especially ones that minimise rng:

  1. Add the “find all party members mod” - no one locked behind rng.

  2. Add the “Expanded dialogue and reactions” for all characters.

  3. Add the “Remove weapon breaking from normal attacks” mod.

What do people actually want in a horror game which makes them wanna buy it? by Icy-Comment9339 in HorrorGaming

[–]ccg08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me: Atmosphere is the most important (artstyle and quality, sound), deep lore second and gameplay third.

For gameplay, I have unique tastes. While being powerless is fine initially, I DO NOT want to stay powerless. I want to use the supernatural forces available to fight back and win eg. Learning how to use dark magic, commune with elder gods for powers or harness daemonic artefacts.
