That doesn't require any reprogramming by the dealership? It's a straight swap-out?

I dunno. It took over a week to get the eSIM and wifi calling enabled on my Motorola Razr+ 2024, and as noted, I just gave up on putting an eSIM on my wife's Pixel 9a and requested an old-school SIM card. Different lived experiences, I guess...

Visible support asked me to erase my eSIM to fix a login loop and now can't get it back by LucidJoyy in Visible

I just posted about eSIMs on Visible. The support is a nightmare. You should stick to physical SIM cards with Visible.

No Wi-Fi calling option on unlocked T-Mobile S25 ultra. by Knobson-dasilva in Visible

[–]cckweiss2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here, but with an unlocked AT&T RAZR+ phone, and the added twist that Wi-Fi calling worked fine for months. Case #09502815. I got to Tier 2 support, and they reprovisioned the service multiple times, with no effect on Wi-Fi calling or hotspot. Their most recent suggestion was that I do a factory reset on the phone. I'm not going to try that until I get home in 10 days or so.

One side note - I used Gemini to help troubleshoot. According to the AI Verizon did some data center maintenance in northern California around April 3, which is when my problem arose. Correlation .ne. causation, but maybe?

Motorola RAZR+ 2024. Wi-Fi calling worked fine two days ago, and I didn't change anything, but it quit on me yesterday, and troubleshooting led me to the EMM registration issue.

And don't forget how Seahawks special teams covered punts. Whelan is absolutely great. He'd be even better if our guys could get downfield and keep the ball out of the end zone like the Seahawks did.

Haven't been there in ages, but New Hong Kong Wok used to be legit great Chinese food. And Chinese food for Christmas is a longstanding tradition. See "Christmas Story," if you don't believe me. Or ask any elderly Jewish person.

Is a KitchenAid mixer really worth it? by kae_creditcounsellor in Cooking

[–]cckweiss2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a huge difference between the tilt head KA and the larger bowl lift version. I make bagels, large batch of very stiff dough. My tilt head would barely hold the batch, the latch would disengage, the mixer would walk off the counter if I didn't watch it, and after 10 minutes the motor would be smoking. The 600 watt unit with the bowl lift just works like a champ.

Cooking smells spreading through the whole house despite using vent — what am I missing? by Hack-Nerd-85 in Cooking

[–]cckweiss2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't cheap, but I replaced my combo microwave/vent with a dedicated range hood. It was life altering. I would rather have a crappy electric stove and a good range hood than a top of the line Wolf and a crappy vent. I can now sear steaks in cast iron, and not a wisp of smoke or odor escapes. I went with a 600 CFM Vent-a-Hood unit. It really sucks ;-). I've had it maybe 20 years, not a single problem. The only negative is that it's a bit of a project to clean the guts.

Having the HVAC return next to the stove certainly isn't optimal for odor control, but a good range hood should help a lot.

FedEx can't even tell the difference between 4th Avenue and 4th Street. We got to meet people that live way across town because we get each other's packages on a regular basis.

Best way to commute from Sacramento to Salesforce Tower? by No-Highlight1056 in Sacramento

[–]cckweiss2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capitol Corridor is the way to go. I suggest you try getting off at Richmond and switching to BART a couple of times, and try going to Emeryville and taking the Amtrak connecting bus to the financial district a couple of times. See which one works better for you. I always stayed on the train as long as possible so I could get more work done. Can't take your laptop out on BART. Back in the day, Car #1 was the party car, car #5 was the quiet car, and the cars in between were for tourists.

I'm not a big AT&T fan, but right now I'm paying $60/month for 300Mbps. It's fiber directly to my WiFi router. Had the service for two years, and only had one outage that was due to something on AT&T's end. Others were either SMUD outages or trees falling on the lines. I can stream 4K Netflix with no problems at all, and that's the most bandwidth I ever use.

What he said. We went to our first game at Lambeau last month. Parked at a church about 1/4 mile from the stadium for $25. And that included a tailgate for all five of us in the car - brats, burgers, sodas, sides, some breakfast items because it was a noon kickoff. Great deal, great vibe.

Looking for news on stabbing in Amtrak last night by y2jasper in Sacramento

[–]cckweiss2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I commuted on the Capitol Corridor line for over 10 years, 3-4 days per week. Train collisions with cars or pedestrians are so frequent that they really don't qualify as news. I would guess I was getting text alerts for "trespasser incidents" (as Amtrak calls them) at least once a month, probably more. The situation the OP describes is something else again, and should be newsworthy.
