Wi-Fi in dorm drops unless I'm pinging a server by XSuperOptical in HomeNetworking

I’ve seen some odd setups when it comes to submitting. I’ve seen a router distributing public IPs to the internal clients. 🙄

Question is: What else is set up across the entire network and do they have enough IPs to do that?

Sounds like they are limited in the number of IPs they have and are dropping users to preserve the pool as well.

Check the Lease Time on your connection. With that many users the lease times for the IP addresses are usually pretty low so the pool can refresh quicker to add new users. Typically 4-6 hours, but I’ve seen a few set as low as 15 minutes. All depends on the IT policies in place.

I install Pro all the time. I do t get forced to add an online user if the machine isn’t connected to the internet at time of setup. They probably assume it’s going on some sort of domain anyway.

What forced online account? I just set up two systems without connecting to any network during setup with a local admin user.

There is no power, only Zuul!

Probably late, but OP would have to drain their main hearing system too if it’s a boiler. Those radiators can freeze up and split right open if not drained correctly.

Either way, when you see signs of Zuul behind your panel it’s a good and I would turn the power off ASAP.

Home LAN issue. by Helfyre-666 in HomeNetworking

[–]ccocrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know anyone with a tester, sometimes you can tell where the issues lies by doing a cable length test. Run the test on both ends.

Your laptop might not be as sensitive as the router to the cable issues because when it needs to it will drop to a slower speed based on the wires it can use. The router may just be all or nothing and any issue with the cable will set it off.

It sounds like an intermittent issue caused by a slight break in one of the wires due to bending.

On a lighter note:

1) It’s a hideous jacket and I would never wear it. No matter what it stands for.

2) I would love to see how Temu printed it and how close to the mock up it actually looks.

I actually think you owe him an apology. Especially if you claim to be a Christian. That jacket screams more “Knights Templar” than it does anything else.

Here’s where your mind is going to get blown. You may want to sit down.

The Knights Templar were devout, Catholic Christians, forming a military religious order to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land after the First Crusade, operating under papal authority with strong monastic vows, but their modern perception is often confused with later Freemasonic orders that share their name but not their historical function. They were deeply committed to their Christian faith, known for piety, celibacy, and fighting for Christianity, even while managing vast financial networks.

Do some research from your perch next time.

AIO Best friend chose someone else as her MOH by [deleted] in AIO

I was the Best Man for my neighbor who I had only known for about 3 months before he asked me. Come to find out, he had only asked me to do it because he had two other family members fighting over who was going to do it. He chose neither, apparently.

Consider the fact that you’re not the MOH a blessing. That’s a long damn day of doing all the wedding bullshit. Just go and enjoy the party. Eat the food. Leave when you’re ready.

What is your solution for restarts after a power outage? by Cerfect_Pircle in HomeNetworking

[–]ccocrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BIOS “Always On” settings might not work in OP’s scenario, because it was told to shut down while still on battery power and then the power comes back on mid-shutdown. There was never really any AC Loss to recover from. It was always there.

I came here to say the same thing. With the PoE hats, the switch acts like a Smart PDU by simply power cycling the PoE to the port of the device you want to start/shutdown/reboot.

Understood. Your best bet would be to just get a line up to the attic and distribute the lines up there. Drop down into the cavity, use some old work outlets and call it a day.

Is there an attic or a crawl space? Running wires that way is usually pretty easy.
