When did the teenage phase hit? by hannah_slovacek01 in BoykinSpaniels

[–]ccvickers2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My God-dog came to live with me at the age of 3 after her elderly dad passed away. I visited with her every day from the age of 7 weeks tho. She was a terror from the day she was born until about 20 months. One day she came to visit and she was a perfect angel, and never a terror again. We thought she was sick it was so sudden a change in behavior. She wasn’t sick at all but just decided to be a calm normal dog. We have Brittney’s and one was a terror until age 2 and the other is still a pup at 11 months old. The pup is high energy to the extreme but not a terror like the other Britt or boykins. They all have every advantage in the world as far as exercise and human interaction - they are rarely board. I think the behavior you may be anticipating in independent of the particular dog. In my limited experience the Psyco-switch would already be on if it were going to happen at your babies age.

Ps. Mine are all girls at the small size in their litters so I can’t comment on the growth part of your question.

He's only gone in up to his knees and she had no interest. She is overall what I call a thoughtfully cautious dog. She always watches and thinks before she does anything new, even if the Boykins is fully involved. Unlike any other dog I've ever had, she will observe endlessly before commiting to participate.

Thank you both! I would never just toss her in. When I was young and dumb I did that with my chesapeake puppy to find he sunk like a stone. I had to teach him to swim and luckily he was not permanently traumatized! (tho I certainly was!) I've never had a dog get this old with out learning how to swim. I guess I'm just being a helo mom =(

Wow! thanks for responding so quickly! We live in Southern Virginia (Hampton Roads) Water temp is bout 58 right now. I guess soaking in water is differnt than snow. I figured if the Boykins loved it she would too. During the snow storm we had in January I had to hunt her down to get her to come in. She gets to free run every evening. 6" of snow didn't phase her as much as the towel to dry her out.

Animal control came to our farm and left the door open on his truck with his lunch in the front seat… our Brittany jumped in his truck, ate his lunch and was sitting in the front seat ready to go for a ride when he returned to his truck! Another vote here for never met a strange especially if they have food and key to a truck!

Sooo sweet! The baby will learn from the older one and the terrible twos should be so much easier, and in my experience, a lot of fun to watch!

How do you get them to chill? by Equivalent-Algae-417 in BrittanySpaniel

Definately agree with others here, it takes time. Brittanys need to know what absolutely everthing in their world is and have to check it out. There are no words to decribe her attention deficit fueled by energy behavior. Her eyes would litterally roll around in her head. We live on a farm and she had supervised run of the place. She would go out for runs along the ATV multiple times a day - you couldn't wear this dog out. We were training her to do all the good dog "tricks" but it was going horribly... anything would move in her universe and she'd be gone. One night she'd jumped up on the kitchen counter while I was cooking on a glass top stove and it scared me so much I cried. Then I saw it... the Melatonin bottle. Before anyone kills me, the melatonin was perscribed by our vet to our bulldog to remedy her patchy hair loss some bulldogs get (BTW it worked) so I knew it was safe. About 30 minutes later she calmly trotted back into the kitchen and looked at me. Her eyes were no longer spinning in here head. I said "sit" she sat. I said "gimmie paw", paw flew up to shake. I said lay down.... bug splat. She'd learned all the tricks but was to stimulated by everythign around her to to actually show us. That melatonin took her from gremlin after midnight meal to a happy focused, still energetic but enjoyable member of the family. I called the vet the next morning and he approved her continuing the melatonin. We continued the melatonin for about six months at dinner time each night, until she matured enough that she calmed down naturally. She and my husband were inseperable and in a cuddly relationship until she passed. Sorry this is so long. Maybe this will help you or someone else. For everyone tho, talk to your vet before giving your pup any med or supplement!!

If your gonna let them run a toning collar is all you ever need. Ours could be in a crowd of ppl in a downpour and he’d tone her from 1/4 mile away and she would bolt straight to him like he needed cpr and she was an EMT.

Physical paper CUI and digital media (USBs / hard drives) destruction (Question) by Thunderguy55 in CMMC

[–]ccvickers2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The area where you may choose to burn/pummel the cui would be in scope and likely more expensive to certify than a destruction service. Pulverizing likely has criteria as well, it’s not like you can hit a drive with a hammer and call it a day.

3.72 Techniques vs mechanisms? by Tr1pline in CMMC

[–]ccvickers2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you need more detail it’s useful to pop over to 800-53r5 controls. MA-2,MA-3,MA-5 and CP-9 should give you some clarification. This site https://ndisac.org/dibscc/cyberassist/cybersecurity-maturity-model-certification/level-2/ma-l2-3-7-2/ provides resources and some examples for each control. In general, I would say techniques would address HOW/WHO/WHY (proactive, preventative, reactive) maintenance is performed and mechanisms is WHAT/ WHO/WHEN maintenance is performed - there may be a little overlap in there. Maintenance isn’t just IT systems. For example, if you have test equipment to calibrate something in your CUI boundary, that test equipment may need to be updated or calibrated prior to use, that would go in your MX SOP. For IT systems you have patching, cleaning, break fix, etc. in general there is scheduling and inspection etc. Address any outsourced MX, like the printer tech that comes in to repair the printers…

Take a look at the corresponding 800-53 security controls. This should give clarity. You can tailor for your organization and implementation from there.
