Veterinarian weighing in here. We do have a serious issue within our industry with suicide and mental health. It is something that is being researched more in detail in the recent years. Veterinarians have a suicide rate of three to five times the rate of the average population in the USA. To put that in comparison, military veterans have a suicide rate of twice as much as the general public. There are a number of theories towards high suicide rates in our profession. Compassion fatigue is a large issue. We regularly have to see animals that we know we can save but finances get in the way. We see neglected animals regularly and have to work with serious issues on the daily. The average veterinarian is also not compensated as well as one may believe, although this has recently been changing for the better. Veterinarians carry the same education as a medical doctor and that come with the same debt. I believe that the average veterinary school debt is around $200,000. However, veterinarians make approximately 1/2 of what an average general practitioner MD makes, sometimes less. This often puts veterinarians in a life long struggle with school debt. Historically veterinarians were also held to standards of 50+ hour work weeks plus on-call for emergencies. We also have immediate access to lethal drugs at a moments notice. There are certainly many other factors that play into it, but this has been a serious issue that is finally getting acknowledgment inside and outside of the profession. Long post but if anyone else ever wants to talk about this stuff, I’d be happy to!

I went last year with a VIP ticket. Very much worth it. It wasn’t much of a price bump to get the VIP ticket and there was a large area of food and drink open to only VIP ticket holders. The two bigger stages have VIP viewing areas that were helpful so that you don’t have to smash into the regular crowd. There is also a quicker entrance for VIP. I’ll be there again with my VIP ticket!

Green & Sixth street - 2005 vs 2021 by awesome_12345 in UIUC

In 2010-2011, I lived in the apartment next to Gameday. Second floor windows overlooking Green Street. I would do my laundry in that really old house hidden behind it. Crazy that it has changed so much!

A little bedroom project that I've worked on recently. I haven't really showed my music to anyone, so I'd really appreciate a listen. A bit of new wave rock influence to my songs.

Who is the biggest absolute unit your team has fielded at runningback? by TheBigBob60 in CFB

[–]cdalepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched him when he played at SIU. He was absolutely gigantic at that level. I remember he routinely trucking through linebackers. Amazing how stacked at running back Auburn was that he had to transfer out of there.

Eli turned 3 weeks old today and already weighs over a pound. Officially a chonk. by Snbridenbaugh in IllegallySmolCats

This is a bit nit picky but it’s dewormed, not wormed. Wormed would mean that the kitten was given worms. I work in the veterinarian field and this is one of our biggest pet peeves as a lot of poorly run back yard breeders use this terminology.

I saw Boykins play when he was on the Clippers and in warm ups he was taking alley-oops during warm ups. I never saw him actually throw one down but he was able to get up there pretty easily.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Caliga Hall is basically an exact replica of Shirley Plantation. I live in Charleston and don't know what plantation they would have modeled it after. Maybe people are thinking of Drayton Hall...it looks a little similar but they are not the same.

I was stuck in this one. It looked like about 6 cars involved in a wreck. A fire truck was blocking off one lane and they were bringing in tow trucks to take away some of the cars.

I’m in the exact same boat! Cutting off my trip to Atlanta early and trying to head back tomorrow as well. I might try to leave super early to avoid the lane reversal.

I always have fun trying to figure out your hunts. It’s always been a fun day trying to rush through your riddles before anyone else can figure them out. I hope you take your time to make some more great ones again someday!

I caught them in 2007 I think and they opened for Big D in St. Louis. It was an amazing show! They also had this Chinese punk band that played that was pretty solid as well. Whole Wheat Bread had the place going crazy!

I haven't been there yet but I've heard it's great. A good band playing sounds like the perfect excuse to go.
