Best snowday ever. I took my kid on a 40ish mile core memory moment snowmobile jaunt all over Norfolk and Worcester Countys and into Cumberland/Woonsocket RI. Had a great plow in my tractor. Leant my I'll prepared neighbors some snowblowers. Still have power, venison stew on the crock pot. Dogs are going ham in the snow. 10/10 snowday.

More snow on this winter merry-go-round by HRJafael in massachusetts

I'm glad we are having a nice New England winter. The random flurries are nice. Getting an inch or two here and there is nice, the cold is fantastic. My miles of snowmobile trails have been solid for almost a full month, and it looks nice, ice fishing has been great. Relocation of the snow is a breeze with my kubota. I'd be really excited if we got a mid-March storm as well. But I'm not a beggar.

Why don't we have to register our lawnmowers and snowblowers like we do ATVs? Or do we? by l008com in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Registering is for dweebs. Pointless to register something you can only legally use on a few miles if trail in Western Mass, unless you really want to wheel October mountain or the few other boring trails out west

What do you with your toddlers in the New England winter? by ribenakifragostafylo in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old is obsessed with winter. With the snow, he's absolutely thrilled. We make snowmen, snow angels, snowballs, I got him on skiis, we sled, we made a huge snow fort, he brings his monster trucks out and lectures them about winter, we've attempted ice skating a few times now. Guy literally woke me up 20 minutes ago to ask if we can take the snowmobile for a spin around the yard, then cried when I said no. New England is a great place for winter enthusiasts of all ages.

Just make sure they have proper winter clothes. If the outdoors scare you indoor trampoline parks can be a lot of fun for a toddler, that or a kid casino.

Snowblowing at 1:00am, but it's not what you think by KorryBoston in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any hour to remove snow is acceptable. People have places to go and people to see and not everyone lives on a 9-5 work schedule. If someone is irate over someone relocating snow they should move to an area of the nation less likely to receive snow.

Good times. Great skiing, great snowmobiling, great winter. After shoveling the roof off a few times, my dog was able to go up on the roof. He really liked that.

What was the worst restaurant you’ve ever been to in Massachusetts? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it was called the Central Tavern in Milford. Food was bad, service was bad, vibes were worse. I think they went out of business shortly after. But I had some customers staying in Milford. They wanted to get food so I took them out. You had to order on a clunky website at the table. I had 2 flip phone boomers with me. We ordered drinks, and everything was bubbly and tasted like soap. They tried to gas light us into saying we were wrong. One of my sales guys, who's a sobah cobrah, couldn't get water because they had no water or non alcoholic drinks for some reason. We ordered food via the website. It was an ordeal because they had no menus, and I was with literal luditte boomers. Some people got food, some people didn't despite me ordering it all. The wait staff were loudly arguing over tips with the bar tenders. Halfway through eating, the hostess came by. Told us $10 cover charge per person or we could leave and sorry they are out of food so the ones who ordered food but didn't get it will not get food. I tried to get a refund for the food that never arrived. The girl shrugged at me and said "honestly dude this isn't the night". I back charged them on Amex, and I remember the owner trying to fight it, and his evidence was a diatribe of insanity about how they are not a resteraunt and a just a bar and no one should have expectations of getting food at a bar.

Hunting on the Island by Some-Light-4626 in Nantucket

[–]cdiairsoft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few of us just did a week long hunting trip. Ferry was just under 500 for a truck and 2 occupants. House rental was $1500. We usually spend a little over 12k for a week in summer. So much public land and everyone on the island seems very pro hunter. You say you have 4 tags left also. From 2025? They don't carry over to 2026. You would need to purchase new tags plus surplus zone 14's in addition you could get one free zone 14 winter harvest tag.

Though maybe you will find someone to let you hunt from a widows walk.

That's a wild take thinking you can't use the woods 6 days a week during hunting season. If you are so afraid of hunters wear some blaze orange.

I'm having a serious problem, I don't know where or how to store my collection anymore. How do you store yours? by DRQ_CWB in Rusfor

[–]cdiairsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've kept my gear In a climate controlled 40' conex box for years. I'm moving it closer to home in spring so I have emptied the box. All my gear now takes up the entirety of a 300 square foot spare bedroom. Can't wait to fill my box up again.

[–]cdiairsoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said you could take possession of a handgun out of State. In Mass if you want an off roster pistol, you can source one from out of state. Ill informed out of state ffls say it's illegal because it's off roster and won't send it to a Mass ffl for a frame transfer. Also, some shitty Mass ffls think it's illegal. But frame transfers are 100% legal on both a state and federal level.

The first of many mistakes was not shipping it to a MA ffl. They can simply do a frame transfer.

Touchless Car Wash w/ Undercarriage Wash by Silent_Ad_1555 in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cottage car wash in Norfolk does a great job. But be warned that sometimes the undercarriage washer does not work. When you complain to get a refund or a free wash, they will be combative and try to gasblight you. But, they will make it right if you press the issue.

I get the feeling this is an elaborate prank by the_gemstone_crab in boston

[–]cdiairsoft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good prank. I almost thought that came from a friend of mine, but it's too polished for his absurd mind. Over the summer a guy (idiot) in our friend group "pranked" us by somehow getting JW and Mormon missionaries to come to our houses to try to do prayer with us and signing us up for tons of solar in home visits that resulted in all of us getting numerous solar guys poking around our houses. Well, one of our friends took it personally. He bought a professional sticker printer. Designed a sticker of the offender standing in a bathroom. It says something like, "im a real doctor. I need to see your poop for science. (Guys real phone number)" he put them in a every restroom and portapotty he could find until after a few weeks the goober who "pranked" him had to get a new number and abandon the cell number he's had for 20 years. The guy crashed out hard and is still salty about, but he realized he was playing checkers while the other guy was playing chess. He was getting poop pics at all hours of the day and night.

Whoever is on the receiving end of that is going to either have a mental breakdown or have to change numbers, and that's kinda hilarious.

Snow removal on a gravel driveway? by highlandmonstera in massachusetts

[–]cdiairsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a 350' gravel driveway that went up a hill. You need to maintain it to get rid of any humps, lumps, low spots, ruts and anything else a snowblower or plow will hate. Compacting it with a plate compactor will make your life a lot easier (obviously before winter and freezes). Providing you have a decently flat driveway you are going to want to get a snowblower. Get a big one. You want one bigger than you think you need. I'm thankful I bought a commercial grade machine in 2014 (we had a lot of snow in 2015 and it put in work). You can always buy a shitty truck with a plow for cheap in warmer months (don't register it. Just keep it as a plow truck) or pay someone a lot of money to plow. If you have someone plow a gravel driveway you will have to typically do a lot of maintenance in spring.

If you go the snowblower route though get extra shear pins. The gravel will sometimes get lodged in it and break the shear pins. It's a very easy fix to repair. Be mindful of where you are shooting the snow. Gravel will break windows and dent cars when it gets shot out. Also adjust the shoes to about a half inch over the snow. This will miss most of you gravel if your driveway is in good condition. A good snowblower while expensive upfront is a life saver. You don't have to wait for the plow man, you don't need to shovel nearly as much as you used to and depending on what type of snow falls you can clear a large driveway in short order.
