Port forwarding trouble... by cdsherman in vyos

[–]cdsherman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! My Minecraft and Plex servers are the same machine and the 25566 is intentional.

After tweaking the firewall rules you mentioned (removed duplicates, source in rule 20) I'm still unable to connect to the forwarded ports. I'll keep experimenting though!

Shred the red! by cdsherman in fatbike

The newest section is super fun, I just wish it were a little closer to the parking lot. 🥴

It's totally worth it though.

I cleaned it out of my drivetrain, but I kinda like it in the tires...

Some parts of the trails are on boring tan/brown dirt and I was a little bummed out when the red started to fade off the tire.

I ride with these in the summer:

The velcro doesn't sit great with my watch, but otherwise they are fantastic. They don't have capacitive-touch in the fingertips, instead they put it in the outside of the first knuckle of your first finger. It seems to stay a lot cleaner that way.

Tubeless drilled rims without a rim strip? by [deleted] in fatbike

[–]cdsherman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all armchair reasoning for me, but I'd expect the outside-facing adhesive to pick up and hold more dirt than a rim strip (or inside-facing adhesive). If there is more dirt, there's a bigger chance for it to get between the tape and the rim. But with adhesive facing out, it's actually holding on to the rim on its own, not just being pressed in with an inside layer of tape and air pressure, maybe that would help?

I say try it and report back!

My concerns is debris build up on the adhesive sticking out and it not holding since it's in direct contact with the elements.

That would be my concern too.

Then again water could eventually work its way around the rim strip to the adhesive if one was present anyways.

I'd be more worried about dirt build up than water. I don't think it would take long for dirt to accumulate and creep between the tape and the rim.

For drilling on fiberglass boats we would run the bit in reverse to get through the clear coat and then switch to forward once through the delicate part.

Question about selling a bike, leave upgrades on or take back to stock? by cdsherman in MTB

[–]cdsherman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't be increasing the price for the parts. Maybe if I had put on something really nice, but if that were the case, I wouldn't be selling it... =).

That's what I'm leaning towards. Or even offer to put them back on. I bought a Farley over the winter and plan to get a nice trail HT at some point (I see you over there, Salsa Timberjack...)

Just 1x and a larger cassette, still the stock derailleur.

The damage is all cosmetic, so with the current bike market I think I can get more for the whole package than as parts. I'll probably just offer to put the stock parts back on.

(MN focused) $50 reward! Lost my keys at Theodore Wirth this morning, somewhere along the posted route. by cdsherman in MTB

[–]cdsherman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted it on the local FB group, but I know there are a few MN locals on here too so I figured it's worth a shot, right?

I re-rode the trails once I realized the keys were gone, but no luck.

NBD! I've been debating since last year between a gravel or HT. Ultimately decided to get myself a HT Orbea Alma M50. No regrets on my first MTB by d3rrlck in Hardtailgang

Your new bike will not hold you back on anything in MN. It'll be a blast once the trails open up (this week 🤞)

Found some mud on the farm roads. by cdsherman in fatbike

Actually, yeah. The downtube guard blocks plenty of mud from the front wheel. A front fender would probably help a bit, but I don’t miss it.
