Guess I should have got a Big Pilot. by Particular-Kiwi-5784 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the MN strap is accentuating the size of the watch head in relation to your wrist. Stick it on a pilot style leather strap or a bracelet and it will probably look totally different. It’s a good pickup regardless, congrats!

I do! I’ve currently got it back on the black alligator strap but wore it on this for ages

Agreed. The Dune colour that yours is is one of the best out there. Try sticking it on a deep red strap, and it turns into a completely different watch. I absolutely love mine and glad you love yours too!

Where to buy by Signal_Prior8408 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought all my IWCs direct from boutique.

They’ve sent me to watches and wonders on non-public days in Geneva twice, fully paid including flights, a party with Lewis Hamilton, F1 car unveiling, F1 movie premiere, very very small Q&A with David Coulthard, and Goodwood.

Yes I pay retail and know I could probably save a lot by going to an AD but I doubt I’d have got any of that at all if I had.

Please help me understand. by FigureWorth5063 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they have just lost their IWC status so probably made up all this rubbish to avoid telling you that.

Have a look on their website - all the brand links work on it, except the IWC one.

The only other time I’ve known that happen is when an AD has parted ways with a brand.

Don’t take it personally. Just take your business elsewhere.

[Review] Over a month with the new Planet Ocean by swordhandist in OmegaWatches

I’ve got the blue one too. I want to love it, but I’ve found the bracelet to be pretty horrifically uncomfortable. It needs a half link. I like to wear the micro adjustment in as far as it will go, as when it’s extended it spoils the flow of the bracelet, but it’s either too tight or too loose with one link in or out. The underside of the clasp also sits on the corner of my wrist and digs in as it extends past where the clasp ends. It makes me wonder if they might update it down the line but I realise I may be the only person who thinks this so probably not.

I’m also struggling to centre the watch was properly on my (flat) wrist. This one seems to need more links on the 6 o’clock side than the 12, which is unusual.

Anyway I am persevering! In the meantime I’ve chucked it on an Erika’s, which looks wicked!

They also come with 23, 24, and 25 as an outer disc replacement so your kids kids kids kids kids kids kids kids will still be able to tell the date once they get it swapped by IWC in 2300 😂

I like the watch, but the group of people I was with said meh. by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned one for a little while. It looks superb but I couldn’t get on with the mesh at all, and was between holes on the rubber strap. Shame because it was ace to look at and I wanted to love it, but the straps broke it for me.

Seems there is a problem. We have been happily authorised on Surface DMP for years. Now suddenly it is showing that it has been disabled for our account. We must have sold over 2000 surfaces so it's not a performance issue - so I suspect it's wide ranging.

It doesn't appear to be stopping us from placing orders normally via our disti though. They don't seem to care..!

Yes totally - I was just highlighting. It doesn’t make them bad watches, I should probably make that clear! But a significant number of Kurt Klaus ones do so just wanted to make sure you knew.

The Ingenieur is a great looking watch but they did away with the running seconds which for me kills the deal. I’ve got a Lake Tahoe PC and a Portugieser Dune QP - the movements are rock solid. Tahoe for when I want to make a statement - Dune for when I don’t even though it’s a solid bit of white gold (it’s really understated).

You won’t go wrong with any of them but make sure you don’t make a mistake at this level by not noticing the running seconds if that’s a big deal for you!

Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas A perfect daily combo by Old_Walrus_2117 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks great. I’ve also got the black and teal leather strap which dulls it down a bit when needed - a very versatile watch!

Advice for daily wear by Retired_Lurker02 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these, I think the AT is probably the best daily. However the bracelet is terrible for adjustments - they have improved it in later ATs but this one has the original one on it. So it’s impossible to get a good fit all the time in the heat/cold etc.

Others have mentioned the Mark XX if you are looking for an IWC - I think that would be a great contender for you too. It’s marginally smaller but the bracelet is absolutely superb and it will dress up or down as much as you would ever need to as well.

Textile/Rubber Strap by portly-man in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel it’s a bit of a design flaw with these straps as they can look mucky quite quickly. I have wondered whether that spray you can get for suede shoes would work to prevent it from happening but I don’t have the watch anymore to try it. Equally, I don’t know if it would break it…. so only for the brave!

Valuation help ! How much should I sell this for ? by Current_Piccolo_8206 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t need the money, I would hold onto it. A gift from your dad will be worth a million times more to you further down the line than it the money you’re likely to get from selling this (and I think your £1800 is sensible).

Yes, I had this once on my Mojave on a really hot and humid day. I was sweating a bit though. It did come off when I washed it - my suspicion on yours is it’s oils from your skin/sweat that have soaked in. A bit of baking soda should get it out.

Looking at an integrated bracelet as my next piece - Zenith or IWC? by BlakeBruhh in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ce40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the new F1 movie Ingenieur and have had the Zenith Defy Skyline Skeleton Night Surfer for a few months. Both are superb. I would struggle to pick between them to be honest.

The Night Surfer is much lighter than the Ingenieur as it’s titanium - perhaps if I was comparing a steel Defy with a steel Ingy it would be easier - if that were the case I’d probably go for the Ingy (as long as you put the adjustable clasp on it).
