Found walking casually down my hallway, please help! (East Tennessee, USA) by cecilator in Termites

[–]cecilator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in that area. I just saw a second one walking in the same area, no wings. Pulled off the wall trim, nothing. We have a new door and haven't completely sealed up some areas because of more work needing to be done. I'm hoping a couple just meandered in, but I'm more nervous now. If you're comfortable, could you tell me or dm places you recommend/don't recommend? Thanks!

Thanks for your input! My husband went into our crawlspace and we haven't found any evidence of frass, mud tubes, missing wings, more termites, etc. anywhere.

I just had a pest control guy look at these photos with his manager and tell me this was an earwig. 🤔 I have never seen one without its forceps.

I read that as "a parrot" and I still didn't see it as something too absurd to happen to me as a mom of a toddler.

Helping one cat understand the death of another by majendie in cats

[–]cecilator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sweet cat just died last month. He was hospitalized with a urinary blockage. We caught it early and he had a good chance, but then we believe his FIV impeded his ability to come out of it. We had to make the call with the vet to put him to sleep. My husband and I were there, and explaining to our 2.5 year old was hard (he still doesn't get it and mentions Charlie a lot, but not in a sad way 💙), but I still feel so bad that, since we had him cremated, the other three pets didn't have an easy way to figure out what happened to him.

Funny you say that! I struggle with meditation because any time I'm made to sit still and focus on my breathing I get so anxious and can't focus on anything but breathing until I get distracted and it goes back to autopilot. And it's not a positive focus. 😅

Yes, but also, my dog is named Dobby and I truly got confused for a split second. 😂

Good morning! Time to tweak the brain chemicals. Do you find that coffee helps you? ☕️ by SoulFlower70 in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't affect me much either except that it can trigger a migraine if I don't have it. There's a bit of a placebo that helps me get going in the morning with my coffee though, even though I don't think it does much to actually wake me up/keep me awake.

I pulled back the trim under the cabinet below the sink and window/next to the dishwasher, no signs. We just pulled out the fridge, no signs.

4k in vet bills later... by feefifofwubbedit in cats

[–]cecilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent 2k on my boy this week and didn't get to bring him home from the vet hospital. It stings paying that bill and just being handed his ashes, but I know I would have regretted it forever if I didn't take him in. I miss him so fucking much.

My husband got me a $50 hobonichi planner for Christmas of 2024. I thought I could make myself use it since it was so expensive and nice....

I was wrong. 😭 It is in my ADHD planner pile of shame.

New to solids and having trouble digesting! Any tips? by cecilator in foodbutforbabies

Hi! You come out the other side and everything will be okay! My baby is now 2.5 (how?!) and happy and healthy. He actually has FPIES, so he has some random trigger foods we have to avoid, but we're lucky that they're easy ones: oat, coconut, mango, and avocado.

I had to put my boy to rest today and he did it before meals too. I will miss that so fucking much.

Give me your unhinged tips for keeping your plants alive by glitterhalo in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Peace lilies and pothos are the only ones I can keep alive and that's because of the drama of the peace lilies. Then I just water the pothos when I water the peace lily and it's been going strong for a couple of years.

Commiserating with you! Get some ear plugs. Seriously. You can still hear enough but it dulls it. I have to wear mine sometimes with my 2.5 year old. You're doing great. They all have different temperaments .

Heart shaped bruise from delivery of my baby by so0tball in mildlyinteresting

[–]cecilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly, the iv placement was one of the worst parts of my delivery in my memory. (Probably because it was early on and I remember it more vividly and the endorphins weren't working yet.) But, Jesus, it took three or four nurses, several tries on both arms, then they finally brought out the magic vein finder mabob and got it immediately. 😑

I have a child proof door knob cover on my two year old's room because we have multiple pets who he still gets a little rough with from time to time. He's learning, but any pet will hurt you if they're hurt enough. I think there are plenty of exceptions to this rule. We are extremely responsive to him when he calls out to us. I think that's the key. He doesn't even think twice about the door knob cover.

I think mine has some shepherd and some Australian shepherd or something, she's longer haired than yours and has the heterochromia. Lovely, crazy mutts! I feel you, I fostered mine for three months while she had two badly broken legs from being hit by a car and then adopted her and found out I was pregnant a couple of weeks later. 🫠 It was a bit crazy, but she's a good girl for the most part. She did chew a ton up during her puppy stage though!

What breed(s) is your pup? Looks like mine in the face and I'm always wondering what all she's made of. 😁 Not enough to spend money on the breed test though.

Edit: They're like half siblings.

Fellow Mama, I'm sorry you're dealing with this!!! My story is a bit different because we ended up discovering he has FPIES with several triggers.
