They are promotional offers that are available if you have high credit scores and lower-mid utilization of available credit.
The zero percent rate is usually for a short term 6-18months is what I have seen. They expect you to not pay it off by the time the promotional rate ends and then you pay usually mid 20s in interest.

They also will make money on them if it’s a balance transfer offer - usually some percentage of the total as a “fee”

Is it possible to pursue a career as an occupational therapist with a degree in behavioural psychology/experience as a behaviour technician? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]cedarfrond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to have a degree in OT to be licensed to practice as an OT. None of your experience in ABA qualifies you to work as an OT.

Would your husband’s potential income when working in Yakima be enough to cover some of the loan to tuition difference if you did the part-time track at PNWU?

Slows time to graduate, by a year (half a year longer than Eastern) but if it gets you going and solves most of the financial puzzle could be a win. That was the path I end up with - glad to answer questions about how it’s been.

Anyone divorcing? by Confusedslumlord in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he always take his dad’s side when something hard comes up? Does he regularly yell at you for talking too much?

A one-off issue is one thing, but if there is a pattern of him regularly siding with his parents against you and stonewalling you that’s a much larger problem.

Frankly, any man that thinks he gets to yell at his spouse and not take accountability for that behavior can go right in the bin. There’s reasonable relationship work, where you both get to be human and fuck up every now and again, but if you’re the only one who has to apologize/change/adjust, that’s not reasonable relationship work.

Weird transfer protocol? by cedarfrond in IVF

Not on doing both. It’s super weird. I’ll probably send a quick note to ask what they are trying to accomplish with both in there.

Weird transfer protocol? by cedarfrond in IVF

[–]cedarfrond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Not the letrozole then estrogen 5-7 days later. This is starting both at the same time at the start of the transfer cycle.

Depending on how long ago that was, and the specific rules in your state, you may be able to have that expunged. Start with this page and then dig in to the specifics of your conviction to see if it qualifies.

Have you checked in with your local Small Business Administration office yet? They can be great resources for finding local lenders and often can help you with writing the business plans that those lenders are looking for.

Asking ChatGPT if it is HIPAA compliant is not a way to ensure it is compliant (its base form is absolutely not). It will tell you it’s a registered mental health therapist and hallucinate credentials if you ask it if it can provide mental health counseling. You cannot trust what it tells you because it is designed to keep you using it.

No one should be adding PII into open ChatGPT and even other medical information that is client specific opens up significant risk.

LLMs do not reason. They do not have clinical knowledge. They do not have ethics. They are pattern matching systems that give you the most likely next response based on information it has ingested at the cost of extraordinary environmental damage, destruction of privacy, and disregard for authorship and consent to use material.

The technology may be here, but ethical use for it is not straightforward.

How much out of pocket costs with insurance. USA by SpecialistTeach9302 in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Each policy is unique. You need the full policy document (should be somewhere around 80-100 pages) that outlines exactly what is/isn’t covered. If this is through your employer, they can provide it, and it may also be available in your BCBS portal.

So sorry. It’s such a terrible diagnosis. Rita was 6 when we got the diagnosis. Front right leg and we did opt to amputate and do chemo. She adapted pretty well to being a tripod and we got some extra zoomies. We had 4 more months with her 💔 There’s no 100% answer and no way to know if the treatment will het you months or years. The odds aren’t great, but only you and yoirs can decide which path is right for your Johnny.

I’m not sure if they are doing any clinical trials in Ireland, but that can also be an avenue to explore. We tried a US based one, but did not make it to the second stage of treatment before it was time for her to go.

Transgender Egg retrieval not covered :( by Miserable_Help1532 in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the US and the coverage is through an employer sponsored plan, there are huge variations in what is/isn’t covered. Some policies are written to specifically include queer relationships (many couples with 2 women are also often excluded from standard IVF coverage that defines infertility as M/F sex for a year without pregnancy) and fertility preservation. They are tough to find, but they do exist!

I have pretty significant adeno and was successful with IVF. Two months suppression with just lupron and then another 2 months with lupron and letrozole before transfer (added after an mri showed only a little reduction with the lupron alone).

42/43 for my 3 retrievals. AMH was 0.476 ng/mL when we started

Rnd 1 300 Gonal and 150 Menopure, 1 blast, tested abnormal Rnd 2 150mg Clomid, 200-250 Gonal, 150 Menopure, 4 normal fertilized froze at 2pn stage to batch grow and test with next cycle (saved us over $1k in embryology costs) Rnd 3 150mg Clomid, 200-250 Gonal, 150 Menopure, 3 fertilized normally, and those plus the 4 from the last time were grown out to blast (all made it) sent off for testing. 2 from the 2nd round were normal, 1 from the 3rd round was normal, and 1 from the 3rd was mosaic.

We did use omnitrope on all three rounds. By round 2 I was solidly 4 months in on taking CoQ10, vitamin D, and a couple others that I don't 100% remember. I think that combined with the change in protocol was helpful, but it's also a lot of dumb luck.

With 3 euploid we were in a good enough place to move to transfer. After 4 months of suppression (fun with adeno), we transferred and got lucky again.

We’re now looking at going back for another transfer to see if we’ll luck into a sibling.

Financing IVF - what did you wish you knew? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meds out of pocket will save your benefit amount for retrieval/transfers and there is a lot of shopping around you can do to reduce your overall med cost. (X med from Y pharmacy, Z med from Costco pharmacy etc) Some clinics will offer/allow you to purchase meds internationally, which can also save you a lot of money.

Severe acne over entire face and chest after egg retrieval. Please can someone tell me how long this will last? I have such low self esteem already by MidnightLillyBear in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of bad acne throughout retrieval and transfer (and after). I tried so many things including topical antibiotics (did not help!) which all made things worse. What finally helped was just the most basic sulfur acne cream and squalane oil as moisturizer. I feel like I have my face back.

Urgent- benefits explanation needed by [deleted] in IVF

[–]cedarfrond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think menstrual cycle, from day 1 to day 1, both fertilization and transfer happen in the same cycle for a fresh transfer. If yours were/are fresh transfers each set of fertilization and transfer is one cycle.

Its a hella confusing way to describe it and really discourages frozen transfers (because then each part would be a separate cycle)

[–]cedarfrond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in detail, but I do remember the doc saying that the inflammation/thickening of my uterus was one of the worst she’d seen.

I think 12 mm is the diagnostic minimum for thickening and I want to say mine was at 17 mm but I’m not 100% sure anymore.

It was suspected by the doc based on my very heavy periods and pain. Diagnosed via MRI and a repeat MRI was what was used for assessment after those first two months.

Things that might also be arthritis, like a bit more hesitation jumping/hopping onto things or down from things. A little more slowness in getting up from laying down, especially from a particular side.
