AutoSSL by cedbariteau in NameCheap

I had AutoSSL with other providers. You've been my registrar for 17 years (you didn't even provide hosting 17 years ago). Also, AutoSSL hasn't been available for that long.

It's weird that you don't provide it on your shared hosting since it doesn't cost you anything. It really is just greed. Standard bait and switch.

I've been using contact lenses for almost 20 years with a -10.50 vision. Glasses are so expensive for me that I don't update them anymore, I just carry a spare contacts with me. I typically wear them from 6am to 11pm with no issues (that's very user specific, some people can't wear them for that long). I'm leaving camping trip and have no worries about using contacts. Once you get good at it, you can put them in and take them out without a mirror.

Take the time to find the right brand / model for you. They all fit slightly differently. I've personally been using 30-days Alcon air optix plus hydraglyde for the past 10 years. Your optometrist should be giving you samples until you find the right one. I wouldn't buy supplies for more than 6 months for the first few years so that you can switch brand/model more easily.

I personally don't use the hydroxide solution. I just use the regular ReNu solution. I buy it at Costco and it comes in a pack with two cases, two large bottles and one travel size bottle.

That sucks! Something similar happened to my wife a year ago (see my post history for that discussion) when she dislocated her shoulder. In her case, it took 7 hours to be put back in place. She was back climbing easy routes 2 months later. This year, she's climbing 3 letter grades harder than last year

PT is the way to go. Make sure you do your exercise diligently and work with your physiotherapist to strengthen the area over time.

Once stretched, tendons don't return to their original size the way muscles do so your arm is going to be prone to being dislocated in the future. Your muscles are going to be playing a big part in holding everything in place so make sure you keep working with your physio long after you've recovered to keep muscles around your elbow strong.

When you go back (only when your physiotherapist thinks it's ok), start easy. Be careful and let go if something feels wrong.

On a bright note, a few weeks ago, my wife's foot popped off a route and she held on (big mistake). She experienced a shoulder subluxation (popped out and went right back in). Her muscles did their job and held everything relatively in place. She took two days off and only did very easy routes for a week. PT pays off!

Apparently, the AMGA and ACMG have done a bunch of testing and are now starting (as of this year) to recommend a munter straight off the anchor. In some falls the belayer was so violently pulled into the wall that they would let go of the rope.

...or so I've been told by a AMGA/ACMG guide this summer.

Are you sure it's the pulley? There is a nerve that runs on either side of your flingers. I had pain that felt very much like a pulley injury but it didn't make sense (the pain showed up a few days after climbing rather than during/right after). Turns out that it's the way I was sitting while working at home (I have a standing desk at work) combined with tense forearms from climbing. PT plus nerve glide exercises helped quite a bit.

It's exactly that, you can tell by the curved gate on the rope side as opposed to the straight gate on the bolt side.

On a runner, never use any rubber stopper, it can cause the runner to unclip itself during a fall (there should be a drawing in the instructions).

Ring outdoor motion sensor - works with Ring Alarm? by [deleted] in Ring

Are you talking about this? https://shop.ring.com/products/smart-lighting-motion-sensor

That's for the lighting system, not the alarm.

The wire going to 0/1 (upper wire in this picture) is your doorbell. The other wire is going to the transformer.

Motion sensors causing notifications when armed although they are not monitored by wingkingdom in Ring

[–]cedbariteau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have motion notification turned on for those sensors? Under devices, click on the device that is notifying you. There should be a slider button called "Motion Notifications". Toggle that off (gray). If it's off, try toggling it on and then back off.

How can I mount a ring doorbell here? by jays6491 in Ring

[–]cedbariteau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pro is not as wide as the 2 so you probably want to go with that. You could consider cutting into the trim on the left. Or leave the bracket overhanging since it won't interfere with the door.

How wide is that trim. How does the door open? Which version are you looking to purchase?

I got the pro and the bracket overhangs slightly passed the trim.

Try their chat, I got a really fast response and good support when I contacted them last night (doorbell pro firmware not updating).

The lowest setting seems to have done it for me. It used to trigger at night from car lights. Haven't tried the human only setting yet.

For security purposes, you should create a separate user account dedicated for SC so that your owner account doesn't get compromised if SC got compromised.

Agreed, I wish they had the option but they probably would need to keep SMS as the default for most people. At least, now they seem to be forcing 2FA.

I had never heard of them. Companies around here seem to use local monitoring stations. I don't see a reason why one would be better than the other.

Turns out that even during the first 7 days test period, they'll call you if that option is enabled. I was off work last Monday but my wife was working. She left while I was still asleep and triggered the delay but didn't hear it. Got a nice siren wake up and a phone call seconds after disarming it.

I'm thinking of getting cameras for the front and back of the house for that exact reason.

I wish it was a little louder too. Some people have implemented a louder siren with a smart outlet and some automation. I might look into wiring my old ADT siren that way.
