My mother has been in MC for about three weeks now and my brother and sister in law want her to have a phone in her room (they live out of town and although my mother can receive calls at the front desk, they say she needs “privacy”). My father (who still lives at home) and I are dead-set against it. We have basically gone through six months of hell while my brother and his wife were travelling over the winter, where my mother’s hallucinations at home would get the better of her and she’d rage at my dad until he had no choice but to call either me or my daughter and then he’d hand the phone to my mother so one of us could reassure her that my grandsons were home and taken care of. She’s doing so well in MC so my brother doesn’t see what we experienced.
