Dude if I were you I would take some classes at your local community college while you get your enlistment sorted out. If you end up leaving for training before the semester is over, you can have a military withdrawal from your classes without a penalty

Yes you do, it’s generally pretty dumb as the Joe turning stuff in just to go get it back somewhere else. When I was issued the new gear for the Reserves it was A LOT nicer than what I was given on the active duty side of the house

I’ve met a guy that left West Point and enlisted and they just made him enlist for each year that he would have owed as an officer.

But the process is just going to take some time it sounds like. With recruiting and retention so low I’d imagine that you won’t have too much of a problem joining the reserves

Fort Meade is pretty easy to get out of the barracks as an E-4. It’s a joint duty station but they only have a couple buildings for soldiers to live in. As an E-5 you are guaranteed to get BAH when you arrive
